Disappointed With My New Whippet

I recently got a third whippet, Woolly, who I was told was from rare bloodlines. He has turned out to be undersized and possibly with the worst conformation I have ever seen. On a positive note he is extremely quiet (eerily so, in fact), fully housetrained, good with cats, other dogs (although he tends to get bullied because of his size) and children and he also travels well. He needs little exercise but does like to be cuddled. I am disappointed because he has not turned out the way I had hoped he would and I may have to rehome him because I am concerned that Rifle and Rosie may injure him. Photo to follow.......

Woolly was the only puppy in this particular litter, however I believe there is a further litter planned, although research into the conformational defects is ongoing. Much as I adore Woolly I feel it is in his best interests to be rehomed and he has been offered a lovely home with my sister in Scotland where he will be able to lead a quieter life.

I have had a woollly litter too - it was a bumper one of one white, two black, two blue, one fawn and two brown(!). I may well have improved upon the conformation exhibited by your lovely boy. Next litter hopes to have black and white and maybe even white and black.......

They are great fun, each one different, but all seem to be girls. They are hoping to find their forever homes at the first National Pedigree Whippet Racing Open at Andover on the 1st May

How clever! This was my first woolly whippet and I hope that the subsequent litter will be a bumper one, with any conformational defects minimized. That said, my woolly puppies will only be homed to the most loving homes where they will be loved despite any minor defects. I am hoping for some parti-colours in my next litter, and perhaps also a blue or a black.

You are right, they are great fun to make although I suspect everyone now is positive I am completely bonkers :clown:

As one who's only attempt at knitting was blanket squares (with lots of dropped stitches) at primary school I'm enormously impressed!

I hope he's going to be neutered before rehoming, we wouldn't want woolly whippets breeding out of control :lol:

PMSL I think Wooly is fab i love the runts of the litter :wub: ( not that Wooly is a runt :teehee: ) so any defects send um my way :clown: At least you don't have to worry about house training and vets biills etc etc ..... Lol (w00t)

Of course he will be neutered, as a responsible breeder I am making sure that there are not going to be any unwanted woolly whippets :lol:

I've been a knitter for most of my life, but breeding these woollies has been a challenge! :sweating:

Ooops..... sorry. I am planning future litters but hadn't thought of selling them. If I have a bumper litter in the future then there may be some for sale with proceeds to a nominated charity. :thumbsup:
