BOB and RUBOB as you wrote. Reserves were Molly's Christian who was 2nd in Open and Reserve Bitch was Molly's Butterfly Effect who won Intermediate bitch. Lisa's Zest won Aust Bred so she's thrilled with a litter brother and sister winning their respective classes. Congrats to all the...

Hope they like heat as August was warm this year and September is becoming hot. 30 degrees here today in Sydney. :( Snakes have been on the move for several weeks now. We're expecting a very hot summer. But off to Melbourne Friday for the specialty we're packing our winter woolies -...

Lisa forgot to mention a certain person's admirable handling skills who handled Zest (Flag Bearer) to Aust Bred in Group on Saturday and BOB on Sunday! :- " Also, Ridgesetter Etain went 1st in Baby Bitch, Best Baby of Breed and Baby In Group on Saturday. I think Walker's Martinique Dog went...

    Poor Blues And Blacks Again

Lana, in response to your post, I don't think anyone would have any respect for breeders who make decisions based on colour. In response to your post, in every breed, there are dogs who have featured heavily in the development of that breed. What you need to look at is what sires have been the...

    Poor Blues And Blacks Again

I've been reticent to post on this topic and thought it might die a quiet death but it appears not. :( I don't wish to offend and there will be those who will take offence at my post, but this topic has generated more comment than some posts related to health and welfare issues. Because...

    Electra And Dino Pups

Time has flown and our litter have grown up fast. Lisa has Electra almost back in shape and having taken on the competition overseas, is now ready to take on the locals again. We're battling ANKC about recognition of all of Electra's and Dinos titles :( , and will continue the war after...

2006 Oz & Nz Show Results

Couldn't be the judges could it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Gone are the days when we hopped in the car and drove 12 hours to a show. :( Personally, I don't think petrol is the major contributing factor. The choice of judge is in my opinion, the biggest factor in deciding whether you go to...

Terriers And Whippets - How Do They Get On?

I have 4 breeds - RR's, Saluki, Whippets (lots) and a couple of Border Teriers. All our dogs can and do run together and everyone gets on but we have one particular management rule which I would recommend. NEVER LEAVE THE DOGS ALL TOGETHER UNATTENDED. This is more to do with...

    Brisbane Royal

Sorry, couldn't get time off to come up. If I'd know the judge had imported a whippet from Australia and had an interest in the breed, I might have made an effort to get some time to go up. Anyway, good luck to all.

    Leasing Dogs

Sending a dog away - whether it be overseas, interstate or even to a friend's place - very much depends on the character of the individual dog. I'm sure no-one makes the decision lightly. :( Not every dog is suitable to go and you need to understand what the aim / objective of sending...

    Leasing Dogs

Because I'm interested in the Tammsvik thread and there seemed to be lots of posts on a separate topic which I'm also interested in, I thought I'd post the previous posts and start a new topic. Hope you all are okay with this. Previous posts (and you'll have to go to the other topic to see...

    Tips For Disabled Owners

Hi all. I've now just sold my second whippet to a family with an autistic child. In both instances, I sold a slightly older puppy 4 months as we all believed that an older puppy is easier to get into a routine but being a little older, it's not as 'fragile'. In both cases, the parents had...

Am I Stupid Or Is It The Vet????

Whilst not a vet or technician, I would imagine removal of front dew claws on an adult is a bigger op than removal of rear dew claws which may impact on the cost. I think cost is immaterial if you are confident with the vet and a good job is done.

    Pick Of Litter

BALANCE and SYMMETRY.   For me, it's not the length of this or that. I look for simplicity and graceful outline. When first born, does it resemble what you're looking for. Is everything in place and in balance and harmony. :) Just what I want in an adult.   But when it all comes down...

2006 Oz & Nz Show Results

Remember guys we don't have a national scheme and that each state in Oz has different regulations pertaining to judges training schemes which is probably why judges from some states get better entries than judges from other states. :o In NSW, when John and I went through, you had to have...
