Going to share any details about the hands on?
Some lovely kind people gave me five whippets to go over. I can't say where I placed them as the people who got fourth/fifth would automatically think I didn't like their dog at all - and that may not be the case in a larger class or different set of dogs. (They don't get told on the day where they are placed either - I just marked my placings down on a sheet of paper and shared that confidentially with the assessors. They don't tell me where they placed the dogs either.)

I was confident with my first and second placings but had trouble deciding between third and fourth and on another day could have easily switched placings, and told the assessors so.

I answered the questions the judges gave me with confidence and believe I justified my choices competently.

That's the best I can do without mentioning specifics, Gary. Is that ok?

Congratulations and good luck in the future judging!!

Thats right Toni- that hard part starts now. The free flights to exotic locations, sumptious lunches, luxurious accomodation, all sorts of kind offers( did anyone tell you Lana that you've got a great set of legs  :D ) etc etc... all for standing for a few hours in the sun saying eany... meany.. miny ..mo.. under your breath. LOL

No seriously I'm sure that it's very hard. Hardest part would be putting up with the exhibitors who take it all far too seriously :- "

Ha! Anyone who tells me that I will know for sure they are lying and sucking up.

It does bother me that no matter what you do as a judge there is always going to be a contingent of exhibitors that will think you to be an idiot and who will claim you to be so to anyone who will listen. And as painfully honest as I am, there are always going to be people who will suspect favouritism of some kind and say things like "She only put her up because she knows her".

I also worry about having a lapse of concentration and making a mistake that everyone could pounce on and discuss at length.

As exhibitors we do expect judges to be perfect, and we are very quick to criticise, and as an exhibitor I have been guilty of the above types of criticisms. I do have to remind myself that judges are only human just like the rest of us, and cannot be perfect. And, as a judge, if I ever get an appointment :teehee: I will just have to get out there and do my best.

Congratulations Lana  Great news, always on the look out for freshies - will pass the info on to the powers that be
