    Flea problem :|

hi there. I read up a bit on fleas, and they can survive outside, in warm damp conditions, so depending where you are, they could be in the garden too, but i doubt it yet this year! Apparently clearing garden debris from around the vicinity of the house, and getting a bit of sun on things...

    Flea problem :|

hi there, does the new house have carpets? Fleas can live outside, but not dog and cat ones i don't think. I have a problem at the mo with a hedgehog, i've created a little habitat for him near my compost heaps, and now i get bitten when i am down there :( , i'm very allergic to flea bites...

Humpy mchump ?! Dog Keeps Humping Everything

tee hee! Dogs have no shame, they just do stuff they like and thats that. How old is he? And has he been neutered yet? I'd maybe give him a squirt with a water bottle or keep a squeeezy bottle with pebbles in to shake at him, to make him jump... Or sacrifice one object like a teddy that he can...

Aggressive 4 Year Old Beagle Biting Us Hard

you are right rosie33, i've been trying to imagine what circumstances would cause my dog to bite me, he would definitley have to be under some kind of pressure, and attacking back i imagine would not help, and would be an awful thing to do to a dog, that was already so stressed out. I was just...

Aggressive 4 Year Old Beagle Biting Us Hard

ooh dear, each to their own, i'm sure nomad isn't suggesting anyone really hurt their dog, he has explained what he means, and though it might be a bit daft to suggest that a novice puts his head anywhere near a dogs head if that dog is a known aggressor, some people do use dog tactics, to...

Dogs in neckerchief/bandanas - what's the reason behind it?

to my shame jampot i have made this error!! I don't really like clothes on dogs, then i got a whippet and its mandatory in winter! My waterproofs are black, as is his coat, he also has a green snood, and my favourite colour is green, so this happens quite often. My friends love to point out what...

    Worst job you did.

my 'worst' job was actually one of my favourites too. I worked cleaning the beach, and later clearing flytipped rubbish for my local council. Numerous pretty gross stories of things i cleared. Absolute worst was a dead porpoise on the beach, surrounded by tourists busy ignoring it. After a brief...

Oh no its that time again !

he's probably just cleaning it. Dogs are innocent little souls, he doesn't realise its grossing you out! I tell mine off for doing it in company, it is so noisy, I can hear him from across the room! I got a bit worried at one point, that if i stopped him, he might get a dirty willy which i...

    Who Suppports The rspca?

no nomad, they are not against bsl, and definitely not 'totally against' it. Their 'publicity' states that they are, for all the reasons that anyone would be, including the fact that after 20years it hasn't worked. But this is just their media agenda. The rspca were instrumental in the setting...

    Allergic lakeland

oooh, go on spill the beans on canagan. I've not ready any bad reviews yet... I've fed it to my (admittedley cast iron) dog, and he had no problems, but then he never does. The game variety has a fairly high protein content, which is what i mainly look for, it seemed like fairly good stuff. If...

    Spondylosis

hi there, my whippet who's ten in a month, gets a bad back occassionally, started about 6 months ago. I have not had xrays done yet, but we discussed the different things that could be causing it, and i remember looking up spondylosis and finding a very good blog by a lady with a few mallinois...

Staffie Cross with Growth on gum

oh good news! Thank goodness! Shame you never got to find out what it was exactly.... Reminds me of when my sister got really bad breath as a kid, and when my folks took her to the doctor, he found loads of bits of sponge up her nose that she'd been picking out of the back of the car seat, and...

    Crating distress

aaaaw, oh dear, don't feel like you are failing her, it has only been three weeks, and if she got to 18 weeks with no housetraining, i imagine you will have a slightly harder job of it!! Also if her bark is anything like a samoyeds, i know exactly what you mean, my friends sam, makes the pots...

Early neutering - what do you think?

neutering yes, 'early neutering' no. I think they should be fully grown before they are neutered. 6weeks old is terrible.. I got my dad a kitten a few years ago, and his vet really tried to get him to have her spayed while she was only a few months old, and said she shouldn't be allowed out of...

How did your dog make you laugh today?

hahaha! Brilliant! Love a clumsy dog (dude is super clumsy), also love seeing a dog chase stuff. Once saw a collie being chased by its owner at a duck pond, it took a flying leap into the water in the middle of all the ducks and swans, pure joy in action! It looked so pleased with itself :)

How did your dog make you laugh today?

mine got pood on by a seagull, on his back end, and spent a good long while walking round in circles, trying to sniff out what it was, he looked very offended at my laughter..
