    Help. American Akita.

Hi - the scratching and chewing makes me think of my dog who was suffering from pancreatitis. She would nibble on her sides/inside back legs as she was trying to soothe herself and that was the closest she could get to her tummy. It doesn't sound like your dog has other symptoms of pancreatitis...

    Dog bed recommendations

Hello all, I'm looking to get a new bed (or two) for my pups. I get overwhelmed with all the options! I'm interested in ones that might be: washable (or waterproof?) best for burrowers (my terrier) or side/back sleepers (my spaniel) thermal insulation? cosy but not very furry (my terrier...

Diet transition after pancreatitis - advice wanted

Thanks HooBear, it's great to hear from others' experiences. We had her for a week back at 'Stage 2' and now she's had a week on the smaller increase taking 1/5 tin Purina & 60g of Burns a day (over 2 meals) without any problems. Thankfully! I forgot to mention she takes a Purina probiotic...

Diet transition after pancreatitis - advice wanted

Hi, thanks Judy. This sounds like the sensible path and it's good to get reassurance. She's been back on Stage 2 for the last couple of days and has gone back to her usual self quite quickly. We're going to give her 4 days more minimum at this Stage then try 50g Burns. As you say, perhaps a 1/4...

Spaniel recovering from pancreatitis - advice

Hi Joanne, That's so interesting about moisture content, thank you for taking the time to explain. I can't see it for the IAMS unfortunately. I've had another suggestion for Burns so I'll definitely take a look at that, 8% sounds great.

Thanks so much Feverfew! I've made a note of those products to follow up on and the website looks like it'll be a great help. Great to hear your collie is doing well.

Intro to my spaniel & terrier

Hi, I'm a relatively new owner to a working cocker Tilly and a Parson's terrier Archie. Tilly's favourite things in life are to get pets from everyone she meet and to chase squirrels with murderous intent. Archie likes to be wrapped up like a burrito on my lap while I work. I'm going to...

Spaniel recovering from pancreatitis - advice

Cocker Spaniel Female, aged 9. Hello, My spaniel had suspected pancreatitis a month ago. She recovered after taking an antibiotic (metrobactin) and probiotics (Purina Fortiflora). When she was ill, she was toileting in the house overnight. She was on an easily-digestible low-fat diet (Purina...
