oh and the husband has been fantastic with trying to bond with Sid more.
He's seeing the improvement and was singing Sid's praise earlier ... okay... maybe not signing but defo happy!!
heya everyone,
I am so thankful for you all. I'm sorry for the inital post, I got a bit... panicy and didn't want to loose Sid as he is just such a loving sweetheart.
More progress today.
* less barking in the day still, although today there was a bit more than there had been in the previous 2...
Hey everyone.
So Yesterday went super well. No more accidents in the house as we been letting him out every hour and this seemed to also reduce the barking. I said to my husband that I think because he was left outside/to his own devices, being outside more than inside is/was all he ever knew...
I tried saying to my husband he's stressed, even if nothing happened today. however, we had another argument just a moment ago because sid pooed in the house again, because I ,issed his cue of going to the back door. I thought he was just stood there whilst i was washing up.
so , yeah i have...
Afraid not. he was on 'raw' (some meat from butchers mashed up from previous owners but wasn't measured properly and we think it gave him worms or something)
Husband doesn't want to change because Remi gets food from there and is more expensive.
Erm. Sid just pooed in Remi's crate, and we now think he's pooping everywhere as a sign of disrespect. That crate is Remi's only and Sid never goes in there ever ; just something he's never done.
Why would Sid start doing this now when he's already had the fight of alpha male?
We're trying quiet and i have started to reward him randomly in the day when he is queit. I know what he needs in the morning ; wee, food, poop, water but husband says "he doesn't need to whine at all" i try telling him its the only way Sid knows how to communicate his needs after having to...
he's 9 months but is acting like a younger puppy?
Harrigntons dry kibble, i soak some for him. he can't have harrington's wet food as it seems to upset his stomach.
He is a rescue, I believehe is a greyhound crossed with a Saluki.
In the last house he was with, he seemed to have been left to his own devices with little training or family integration so this is been a challenge any way.
I do try to tell my husband that these issues won't go away over...
Sid has been with us since May 11th 2024. All was okay albeit a bit stressful with consitent barking but we thought it was getting better.
But over the past few days, my husband has been getting really angry at Sid and doesn't want to pay for dog trainer but also says he wants to get rid of Sid...
Thank you both, we do have a garden, with a good size path from the back door to our garden gate.
Remi isn't too bad on the lead and usually good with not pulling too much but seems to have regressed a little since taking Sid for a walk.
I've been trying to take Sid for walks with Remi, walks...
I wondered if I can ask you all for some advice about walking / leads / harnesses to use.
I'm finding walking Sid (8 Month, Male, Greyhound X Saluki) and Remi (2 yrs, Male, Fox Red Lab) really difficult to walk, Sid more then Remi.
I can't walk them separately as they both get upset, and I am...
Remi is such a gentle type and Sid is learning both good-boy behaviour and not so good-boy behaviour from Remi...sometimes Sid does something and it's like "Remi defiantly taught him that!" its quite funny!
Thank you both!
I think I may need to re-introduce Stay at a later stage (maybe from standing position) once he's settled in more. I sometimes accidentally forget he is new to our house as he's just integrated really well and feel like we've always had him.
When I do sit, I don't make him sit...
i feel really bad for stopping the 'nipping'
turns out, Sid must have smelled that Remi had really waxy ears, as this evening whilst Remi was laying down on the floor, sid came over and gently flea-bit around Remi's ear and then licked inside as if he was trying to care for Remi...

Daily Rover Report
(...or whenever I remember)
Sid has improved from yesterday's "snapping Attack at Remi" , with minimal nipping or snapping
We have been working on Sit, Lay down, Leave it, Come/In, Stay commands and doing really well, I'd say he's still at the introduction level...
This is the only pictures i have of him right now ,
I do have another thread for a diary where I'll be posting most updates :)
@Tinytom , is it normal for them to nip at the ears or be little nippy when excited?
It's just we want to stop all nipping in 'fear' of it getting out of hand
