Thanks for all your replies
Lots to think about. Dibbythedogs and LFL's ideas on something happening whilst hubs was out with our Dog are closest to my own thoughts. Maybe hubs reaction to a random barking has perpetuated this situation. Not sure how to go forward, but will certainly look at...
hi Joanne, thanks for replying.
We both walk him on various but similar walks. I usually do mornings and my husband mostly, but not always, does the evening ( in darkness) walks. I never walk with a pushchair. Our dog does seem to favour my husband, and I did wonder whether his behaviour ( the...
hi everyone
Our 2 1/2 year old neutered cockerpoo has always had the the sweetest nature both in and out of the home, getting on well with children, adults and other dogs.
Over the last couple of months my husband has come back from taking him for a walk saying he has behaved aggressively...
Thanks everyone for all your advice. We have a holiday coming up and will make a decision after that. Out of interest, is there such a thing as high quality kibble, using natural ingredients? Feeding is such a minefield, the more I look into it the more confused I get!!
Hi everyone
We recently had a trainer come round to help us with some training problems with our dog. She also talked to us about his diet. He's on what we thought was a decent quality kibble. She said she recommends raw feeding and we thought her reasons were sound. But I do have reservations...
Hi there
Our poor little chap became really listless last night so ended up taking him to emergency vet. After a thorough exam vet thought that it was gastritis, and advised giving a restricted diet today of chicken and rice given over 4 small meals which we have. He's peed regularly and had a...
Thanks for your advice. He's a cockerpoo and fortunately not a scavenger. It's very unusual for him to vomit. He's still off colour and hasn't shown any interest in food, but has had water so will probably feed him tomorrow now ( chicken and rice as suggested, thanks JudyN ). Fingers crossed...
hi everyone
As a first time dog owner I would really appreciate some advice.
While out on an organised walk today my dog was sick twice ( at beginning), he then charged around as normal so we carried on with the walk.
Back home he had a bath as was covered in mud and I dried him and he seemed...
Our course trainer comes with good credentials and does use reward based training. This is our second course with him, and in truth we've learnt so much.
The last day or so the lead biting hasn't been so bad ( we've held fire on the chain lead at the moment ). Giving him more play time and a...
The class is held mostly outside( we've been lucky weatherise) and as organised as it can be with 10 puppies.
The trainer is knowledgeable and very passionate about his job, but is less then clear sometimes when it comes to teaching. We have 1 more class left on the course and are considering...
Hi Joanne
good idea introducing new lead first, I thought I'd walk him round garden first so there's less distractions.
There is space for time out, but in truth not much opportunity as class is pretty much full on.
Once again thank you both for your advice. It really never occurred to me that our pups behaviour could be stress related he is such a well adjusted and happy little fellow.
The trainer at puppy class said it was in response to our reaction to his lead biting, and that our pup thought it was...
Hi everyone
we have a problem with our pup, when out walking he will keep biting at his lead. He is just over 71/2 months and has done this periodically for the last 3 months. He was castrated recently and pretty well stopped, but has started again with a vengeance, I don't know why. He has...
Things are settling down now at night, as long as husband puts pup to bed! We all had a good nights sleep last night. The biggest problem we have now is that our pup, who had his back dew claws removed at some time of castration, won't leave his back legs alone. He's wearing a big enough cone...
Thankfully he came home with painkillers. We are going to the vets for a post check up tomorrow so will mention it then. Many thanks Joanne for advice on the diffuser- I think I've seen it advertised, will certainly give it a try.
Our 7 month old puppy has just been castrated. All went well with no problems. The first night my husband slept downstairs with him as he was unsettled. The following day he was back to his normal self so that night husband had an early night and I stayed up to put him to bed, (he's crate...
Our pup did come from a home breeder. While he was very well cared for, I think his exposure to the outside world was limited. Since we've had him we have really tried to correct this. In general successfully. His walks are varied as we live near the coast and also have many lovely country...
hi gypsymum2
Our puppy was still with the breeder when we brought him home, and was very easy going and eager to learn. But he was very sensitive and still is occasionally. We've socialised him fully from the start, also going to puppy training when he was able to go out with positive results...
