Believe it or not, I am, and always have been, ready to take responsibility for my actions, be they physical or verbal. In this case I feel that I should apologise for taking umbrage at your, obviously well intentioned, words. I sincerely hope that you can forgive me and that we can restart our...
I'd really like to know what makes you so sure that your way is the correct way. At 64 I might just know what I'm doing. Btw, you are not giving advice, you are lecturing and I have had quite enough thank you. Please avoid the temptation of either replying to this, my last word on this thread...
Excellent advice, thanks JoanneF. We have already started teaching her that biting is NOT allowed using both the methods you describe, but the socialisation advice is particularly interesting and so will definitely try that. Thanks again and Seasons Greetings to you and yours.
Thanks Josie, she seems to be quite at home already which was a super surprise. Last night (her first night here) she slept all the way through without as much as a whimper. Even when I got up, washed and dressed and put away the dishes from last night, she waited until I lifted the blanket from...
The breeder and I went to the vet to have her checked before I parted with any money and he was perfectly happy for me to take her home. Therefore I was happy to do so, but thanks for your comments.
Dad is a Shih Tzu and mum is a Lhasa Apso. They are owned by two sisters, who live close to one another and this is the first time they have tried to breed from their dogs. Milli was born on Nov 3rd.
Thank goodness for that; I don't want to make enemies on my first week as a member, lol. Great advice re use of finger, I will definitely do that. Thanks again.
Thanks for clearing that up for me Joanne and btw, please don't think I was arguing with you. I was unaware of those facts and I'm grateful that you have put me straight.
Thanks again Joanne. Regarding the chicken wings. I was told many years ago that you should never give any dogs chicken bones as they are prone to splintering and when they break they are as sharp as needles and can do a lot of damage, especially to a young dog who's internal tissues are...
I want to keep my new puppy's teeth healthy and would like advice on how often they should be brushed. Also, are there different makes of both toothbrushes and toothpaste, if there are, what kind would you recommend? (don't pick puppy up until the 29th Dec).
Hi Judy, she's a Shih Tzu X Lhasa Apso. There were only 5 in the litter and one sadly didn't make it. All the rest were bitches and luckily we wanted a girl and we were 4th to put our name down, so we only just managed to get one. Although we haven't seen her yet we've been told that she is all...
That sounds terrible. I hope everything turned out for the best. Luckily it will only be a 15 minute drive for us, so even if she's not happy she won't be suffering for long. Even as an oap I'm getting quite excited at the thought of having some young blood around the house. We haven't told our...
Thanks Josie, I think I'll compromise and have her in a carrier with me on the back seat reassuring her. I don't drive as I'm disabled, so that should work fine. Photos will be posted asap. Milli is a Shih Tzu X Lhasa Apso.
Hello folks, I'm not quite the owner of a new puppy as she is only 4 weeks old and still with her mother and sisters (the whole litter was girls). I'd like to ask if, when we pick her up, I should put her in a travel carrier immediately for the journey home, or should I carry her on my lap to...
