    Escape proof harnesses....

Im looking for a three strap (one that goes round the tummy, just under the ribs) harness, that specifically says escape proof, and personal recommendations please! Ive read the Ruffwear one is good but £70 is a bit out of budget. If i cant find a cheaper version I guess it will be credit card...

My dog doesn't know how to play

It takes time, i think get a core range of toys, something cuddly, something that squeaks, something to chase, something mental puzzle, various fabrics. Keep them out at all times if safe, if possible keep them in doggos area ie bed or crate. My rescue has been here almost 2 months now and had...

Advice on moving dog to new owners

Id say gradually too, most rescues like you to meet your potential new dog a couple of times at least before taking them home and I think its a really good idea. Will the dog go to live with you in a car? As others suggested maybe take the dog for walks, then one day a short car trip to...

How do your dogs find the snow?

Rocket doesnt seem to ike snow very much, he is anxious going outside to toilet alone but his usual 8:30 like clockwork poo didnt put in an appearance til 3 today. This included a short walk round the block and many trips round the garden. Eventually once I cleared him an area he was fine, seems...

    Adopt or Shop

Im also bias towards adopting. Just the thought of all the dogs in kennels in this weather breaks my heart. Im also of the thinking that there is a 'right' dog for each owner and vice versa. Training an older dog, expecially when you dont know what has happened to him/her can be hard, but...

Is it cruel to keep a greyhound in a flat?

I dont think there is a blanket answer to this question. It depends on the dog itself, whether you provide enough stimulation, if you have a trusted insured dog walker to come and take doggo out, if you can 100% say after 8 hrs at work you can still face a walk and obviously do one before work...

Tell me your stories of correcting barking on the lead please

So Dogs Trust have just started running their dog school near me, I think I wil enrol him and we will get some help, it also means he can meet dogs in an enclosed controled environment, none of our local walking hotspots are enclosed and are all near major danger points such as the railway...

Tell me your stories of correcting barking on the lead please

Rocket has been here two and a half weeks now. He is approx 8. Terrier cross. Determined little monkey :p He doesnt appear to have been well socialised, but did live with other dogs before. I get the impression he was left alone inside and outside for long periods, he shows anxiety going...

Chewing feet and limping on alternate feet

This is exactly what it is. A random encounter with a JRT breeder sent me to google, the vets confirmed it and he is perfectly fine with it. I may have watched cute skipping vids on youtube for a few hours for further research :p

    Training Around Small Animals (pets)

Slow progress..... His initial interest in recall was clearly just for show so he would get adopted :p Now he is settling in he is trying to be the boss. Sorry chap, not happening :p The point we are at now, the cage is up out of eye sight, he will sit watching tv with us and then spend 5 mins...

    Tiny dog, huge ears

He hasnt been socialised very well, I get the feeling he has been allowed to exert his JRT dominance over everyone he has previously met haha! He is a pain in the a in only a way a terrier can be :p but he is lovely!

Chewing feet and limping on alternate feet

Rocket has been with me for a few days now. One of the times we met him at the rescue we played with him in a large muddy field, he kept getting mud caked on his back left leg and limping, I got him to sit and gave him some treats and investigated, he let me look at his foot and gently squeeze...

    Ear cropping - thoughts?

I only recently learned about this after seeing a dog without the cropped ears and my friend explaining this is how they are meant to look :( Humans are horrible. The things we do to this planet and its inhabitants is really awful, do whatever you want to yourself, but cosmetically 'enhancing'...
