i do wonder somtimes whether they have the animals best interests at heart  i know they can say they are tight for space and need to find them a home asap, but does that mean they will just let them go to any home, rather than let them find the right one :( very sad and very anoying

the lady i spoke to ensured me that they would find the right home for them - she sounded really dissapointed that we could not have them.

i do think that they will do the right thing for these dogs - the fact that i can not give an exact date when i could take them, and that they are over flowing with cruelty cases means that space is really short :(

i will certainly keep phoning to find out what is happening.

i am just glad that i did not go and visit them - it would have made the whole situation so much worse.

not sure if Ig rescue has been in contact with the center or not - they did not mention them to me.

maybe it is because we are so far North and there just are not as many homes looking for dogs to foster or as forever homes.

we do have a bit of a problem with rescue centers here - our Cats protection is thinking of closing through lack of volunteers and lack of suitable homes - yet the amount of unwanted kittens is increasing :(

where are you visiting in Scotland?

if you ever get this far North - Mabel would love a cuddle

I emailed the only Ig Rescue email address I could find when this was first posted. I asked them to let me know what they were going to do but I've heard nothing. I'm very sad they've done nothing to help as I am sure there must be plenty foster volunteers

Does anyone have contact info for the 'other' Ig Rescue? I'm sure there were two groups????

There is one IG rescue -the Italian Greyhound Rescxue Charity, and As far as I am aware, they HAVE made enquiries of the rescue centre about these dogs.

Rescue centres are in many cases not interested in involving breed rescue organisations - for wahtever reasons - and not always for the best.

I have pm'd both Shirley & Helens contact details to the relevent people, whether they have chosen to use them i dont know?

i let the lady at the center know that Ig rescue may contact them and she was delighted - she said that they had a boxer in not long ago that was rehomed through the great help of boxer rescue - so i do believe that the center would work with Ig rescue.

i also feel sure that they will be careful rehoming these guys - i have spoken at great length with them and as it is only a small center the dogs do get more attention than most at these huge centers.

i worked as a home checker for the RSPCA out of a branch in Kent and the place was huge - there was never enough time to give each and every dog the attention it deserves - here in the North of Scotland it does seem very different :)

we are still hoping to get these boys - keep your fingers crossed for us x

i will phone the center on Monday for another update.

Russell is right  IG Rescue has made contact twice with this rescue centre about the two IG's!

But unfortunately if the rescue centre doesn't want to involve IG Rescue there is nothing they can do about it!!

good news

the two chaps have been in their new home for just over a week and seem to be doing well.

the lady who has taken them on was apparently on the SSPCA rehoming list looking for Italian Greyhounds

i feel so sad that we could not have taken them but the house is still not finished.

but at least now i can stop worrying about them :)
