Hi
We adopted our hound back in the summer and he is now well-settled in.
Where at first he was aloof for a couple of months he now adores us.
He used to stand by our sides when let off the lead but now runs around like a lunatic.
He cried at night originally when left but is now secure that we are coming back and settles and sleeps well.
SO, what's the problem I hear you cry????
Well, we can't seem to get him completely house-trained!
He is 75% there but he still has 'accidents' every few days.
He is fed 8am and 5pm and usually walked or at the very least let outside at 7am/12pm/4pm and 10pm and often more............
He never ASKS to go outside ie. scratching at the door, pacing around etc and just seems to think if he's gotta go its ok............
Most nights he is clean and dry and does his stuff when taken out but other times he seems to think 'what the hell,I can't wait'and just goes.
This morning my partner got up a 5am (5am ) to head him off at the pass. He (the dog!) wee'd and did a small poo so my partner came back to bed (deservedly so) for a rare lie in, leaving the hound on the settee. Lo and behold when we went down at 8am there was a pile and a puddle on the carpet.
Sometimes in the morning the dog whines or does one wuff which my partner nearly always responds to by going down and taking him out but this has crept forward to earlier and earlier -my partner is shattered!
SO,any advice please? We seem to be bending over backwards to make sure he has had every opportunity to 'go' but seem to be making no progress......
Any help very much appreciated!
