I'm back in body but not in spirit. The south coast of NSW is absolutely gorgeous at this time of year.
The circuit was Sapphire Coast at Wolumla near Pambula - 4 shows and Bega Valley held at Bermagui - 3 shows and Cobargo had 1 show. We did all but 1 at Sapphire Coast.
Whippet exhibitors over the shows were made up of:
Jodabry (Brad)
Skyeway (Anne Marie)
Peperone (Angela)
Berinswift (Janice)
Mikshar (Lesley & Shannon)
Ridgesetter (John & Toni)
Have left catalogues at home but whippets fared well with many Best In Groups but sadly, and we found it strange, all Hounds were ignored at the In Show level except for 2 shows. Not everyone showed at all shows but basic results are:
Alice took 4 BIG's over the shows, Cherry (Ch Perepone Love of Gold) took one and Brad's Junior Jodabry bitch got 2 I think with a RUBIS at one of the Sapphire Coast shows. Ch Mikshar Bobby McGee took a RUBIG last Sunday. I'll dig out CC's and post separately.
Our minor girl, Piper took 2 Minor Groups and her brother, Connor got from memory, 4 challenges and several Puppy In Groups. We were thrilled that our Baby RR won his age class with strong competition in all but one show and got I think 4 or 5 Baby In Groups. Peaches, our Saluki, was able to win Bitch CC but only converted to a BOB at one show. Zani our RR girl managed a couple of challenges and several reserves. (RR's were strong with an average entry of 30.)
At the Bermagui shows, my old girl, Spice, (Ch Ridgesetter Sugar N Spice) came 2nd in the first Veteran sweeps and 1st the next day and I was really thrilled and excited with those wins. She's not been well over the last year but she loves her annual holiday down there but I told her she has to work for it just like the rest of us.
The shows were only one part of the trip. We've been going down there for over 10 years now. The dogs love running on the beach and we love the weather, food, wine and fishing! (The dogs enjoyed their salmon too.)
The shows prosper and encourage camaraderie and friendliness and exhibitors often socialise together of an evening and are ready and willing to assist each other at the shows. Something quite rare at most shows.
Back to the grind now as I save money and make time up for my next holiday.
Cheers
