Yep - I'm tuckered out all right.

The Sheik was looking for a working Saluki so no gaiting.  All dogs were to be walked only in all different directions.

The Sheik was looking for soundness.   We assumed the off lead part was to see how obedient the dogs were and that they could be called and would come.  Mental alertness and stamina test.  It was different and interesting.

Very interesting - I would have enjoyed watching that.

Me too Lana

Thankyou Toni for the results from the Easter Shows around Sydney, congratulations to you on your wins and to all the other whippet exhibitors who had special wins and placings.

I really enjoyed your report on the Sheik's judging of the Saluki Show. :D

Results from Sydney for yesterday and today?

And Noelene - what about your results in Tassie???? (I've had an email and would LOVE to do the brag - but I think Noelene shoud do it!)

There were back to back shows in Tasmania this weekend, I could only attend Saturday's show so unable to relay Sunday's whippet results.

Tasmanian Ladies Kennel Club Inc.

Judge Mr N Jackson (Q) Sighthound Specialist

10 whippets entered 4 absent

Dog CC 8pts Acaiza Magical Venture (Ch Martinique Ballybrogue x Ch Acaiza Columbine) owners Mr E & Mrs E A Wyatt NSW handler Steve Watson

Bitch CC & BOB 11pts OPEN in Group Aslan Je T'Taime (Grd Ch Taejaan One Step Closer x Ch Aslan Sensationalism) owner Noelene Watson

This was Tinker's first show for 2008 and about her 3rd outing over the past 12 months. I have been busy campaigning other Sighthounds and run out of handlers and stamina!!! The judge was very impressed with Tinker's type, correct size and correct daisy cutting stride.

The hound judge on Sunday was Miss Margaret Davis whom on her previous judging appointment to Tasmania had also awarded Tinker Best of Breed and Intermediate in Group.

Wooo-hooo! Yay for the Winky Dink.

I am so happy and quite amazed - Neville Jackson lives in the same area as me - and I have not shown under him for quite a number of years now - because .... I'll be honest, he's never liked anything I've had!

Perhaps it's time to try again, huh? :p

It's over (w00t) Well, not quite. Got to do all the paperwork now and the critiques and pics to sort through.

HUGE apologies to Anne Wyatt for putting her dog in the catalogue and leaving her girl out! And then I didn't have her as exhibiting her dog Monday. At least I was consistent and only stuffed up the one exhibitor.

I did do the stats for the catalogue but ran out of printer cartridge so I'll post here:

O'SEAS TITLES (same as last year) 3 2 x NZ, 1 x USA

IMPORTS (up on last year) 7 1 x USA, 2 x UK, 4 x NZ

Also, mega apologies for the ribbons not arriving in time. There's still confustion with our ribbon supplier (they were ready / weren't ready) so as soon as we do have them, they will be posted out.

The weather was kind, although it was very humid on Monday. Bill looks like a beetroot (naughty not wearing a hat). I know both judges enjoyed their dogs.

When and if I get time, I'll do a comparison of all 4 shows, who was entered and how they placed.

Hope all you interstaters arrived home safely.

Even if you didn't attend, we'd love your thoughts of whether it was a good idea having the 2 shows at Easter. I know the WA exhibitors were happy as it is a huge expense to fly over with dogs for one show but this way, they got 4 shows and the opportunity to see and chat with people in a relaxed manner.

We had some new exhibitors this time and dogs that some of us had never seen.

The schedule for next year's show will be on the Club website and we hope to see you all again.

Have fun with the baby Cristina. Now that you're used to the 'big smoke', contact us earlier next year.

Cheers all.

Thanks for the full results ... wish that I could have been there but my babies weren't quite old enough :( and I wasn't about to travel 12 hours with their fat mother! :- "

It sounds like a great weekend and I think that I must definately make plans to do the road trip next year.

HUGE CONGRAT'S to all the winners & placegetters  Toni, you are a star with the results - it is brilliant to see, thanks for putting them up

Will have to ear mark next year for the big trip over, babies will be 1 yr old by then (w00t) (w00t)

Dunno about the Aussie lot, but I reckon 4 shows is absolutely brilliant  Like you say, for those that are way out of town, it makes it worth their while with 4 shots at the winners ribbons.

Will look forward to your percentages.....

Lynda

Hi Toni,

Started up the bank account again so we'll be ready for next year, hope that is plenty of notice. :D

Really enjoyed myself there, even survived the driving around Sydney bit.

A big Thank You to the committee and workers of the shows, a lot of hard work done by you all.

Look forward to catching up with everyone next year. :D

Cristina

For what it is worth I think the 2 championship shows over the Easter break is a brilliant idea. I agree that for us who have to travel long distances having the shows over the same weekend make it more appealing. Although very tiring for the owners.

Of course we have to be sure the shows don't clash with GS at the Royal, which is usually Easter Monday.

If this is the case next year, perhaps a day and evening show would suffice.

My thanks to the many who sent congratulations to us for the success we had at the royal and specialty. We are very proud of our boys.

We are sorry we couldn't stay and support the 2nd Specialty, however our new Am Ch Siberian had a show in Canberra and I HAD to be there to watch, and Sonia to handle him. He won his first CC second time shown since getting out of jail over Spec A/B BIS winning Chs. So we were delighted with the result. As our Sib bitch was in full season he was out of his mind trying to get to her, so blew it for BOB.

Our congrats to everyone who had a successful weekend.

I, too, would like to add my thanks to Toni & other workers for a huge effort organising these shows & for posting the above results - I've just marked my schedule because I didn't get them all on the day. I also like having the 2 specialties together. I always fly up & back so having 4 shows together makes it worthwhile. I wouldn't/couldn't come for just one.

Many congratulations to those who won & comiserations to those of us who didn't win a cracker all weekend! It was good to see dogs we don't normally see & I hope I can do it all again before too long.

Hope some of you can make it down to the Victorian show in September.

Gail.

Thanks for all the results Toni and Well Done to all winners and place getters,

Sounds like a very good weekend, thinking of coming over for these shows next year.

Well done Molly with the Sibe

Toni.. you put me to shame :teehee: Been a bit crazy here with babies  , kids having school camps  and end of financial year looming in the business sector :teehee:

However... am running a bit on empty, but have consumed enough fish oil tablets that I should remember..... young Kate winning Runner Up Best Of Group & Junior of Group last weekend  (don't think I mentioned this  ) and Sage picked up a RCC & RBOB, won the puppy bitch class of 6 twice (sorry Cartman, meant to tell ya, but have been busy with babies - 2 & 4 legged) and then today...

Young Sage - Skyeway Want Ya Back At Shenace (Imp Aust) went all the way at the All Breeds Show to win Best Puppy In Show  Sage is shaping up to be a gorgeous bitch - one to look out for in the future I reckon (and so do a few judges (w00t) (w00t) )

Best go & cut 96 puppy nails

Congratulations on your recent wins with the whippets

Sage is such a lovely name, I had a SAGE many years ago except he was equine rather than k9 (w00t)

A great couple of weeks with Maggie  (Ch Parnew Wild Irish Rose), she was

 ***Runner Up In Show*** today

Judges were Mrs S McMahon (NSW) Group 4 and Mr J Rice (SA) Show Specials.

It was a very good win as I believe both judges have owned and showed whippets.
