I would just like to post a great big thank you to Nicky12 who for the last few days has supported me with my Blue, who is very sick.

On your last e-mail you asked for pics, well here they come.

I use to post on here quite a bit, but stopped as it all started to get a bit serious, I still popped on from time to time to see how certain dogs were doing. e.g. Jessie, Poppy, Lady the Greyhound are just a few names to mention. I now regret my decision as Nicky12 has proven that in times of need you just need to talk to people who undertand!!!! Thanks Nicky :huggles:

Thanks all for your wishes of get well for Blue.

Just got back from the vets after he has been to see the specialist today.

I can't quite make my mind up if it is good new or bad, she has been diagnosed with Chylothorax, it is a very rare condition that is seen in whippets / greyhounds.

"Its cause is usually leakage from the thoracic duct or one of the main lymphatic vessels that drain to it. The most common causes are lymphoma. If the patient is on a normal diet, the effusion can be identified by its white and milky appearance as it contains high levels of triglycerides.

The condition is very rare but serious. In animals, chylothorax usually results from diseases that cause obstruction to the thoracic duct preventing lymph from draining normally into the venous system. Examples include tumors, right sided cardiac failure, or idiopathic lymphangiectasia."

The above is copied from what the vet has given me.

So basically, she is very sick at the moment, but because she is now eating and making small improvements, Pete (my vet), wants to give her a week on the antibitoics in the vein hope that the blockage is a absess as apose to a tuma or heart condition, that last two being fatal.

She is booked in to the vets 1st thing next Tuesday to have her chest drained, but he will carry out a x-ray first and then drain the chest from the site of the obstruction, that way he can get a look at whats actually there.

So its take every day at a time, any detrimental change in her condition then I have Petes number to give him a call immediatly. So everything crossed and she is such a special, loving and kind natured dog that does not deserve this illness.

But then isn't that always the case in Life - and they say there is a GOD!!!!!! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
