We will be debuting her at shows pretty soon, and we hope she likes shows.  One thing about Inga is that you can't make her do anything she doesn't want to do.   So far, we can confirm she enjoys lying around on enormous piles of fluff,
From what I know of her mother that sounds about right LOL.

Although I could be deemed as biased as I own a Bluestreak pup I think she is lovley karen. Your desciption of colours in the US make the colours sound much prettier than the UKdescriptions.

Here in Oz our colour descriptions are as unimaginative as they are in the UK. We would call her a fawn brindle too. Trouble is we are allowed very few words to describe the colour so most get described as brindle & white or, worse still, particolour, which can, & does, mean almost anything. Then, you get new breeders who don't know pups born blue can turn fawn so very often the colour described on the pedigree bears no relation to the actual dog. This becomes so hard when you are researching pedigrees & want to know the colour of a specific dog.

She's a beautiful girl, Karen but I didn't think that type, size or colour would win anything at all in America. I thought your Standard calls for them to be big & pigmented so it's good to know that's not the case. This girl could win anywhere.

Just to be clear, Inga hasn't won ANYTHING yet. We haven't shown her. She will be coming out soon, and I guess we will have to see if judges will overlook her eye color in favor of her virtues.

It's like anything else--there are faults under the standard but most dogs who win have one or more of them. Some judges here won't put up anything which goes with a higher tail, while others don't care if the tail is high and even has a ring in it if the dog's movement is impressive. Some judges really care about ears and eyes, and others care about topline and substance. We have no idea what judges will make of her.

Her father is a blue dilute, but he has very dark eye color and nose color for a dilute, and he finished his title very easily. More recently, both Savile Row (blue brindle parti) and a number of his blue brindle offspring (some of them solids) have won very well under certain of our judges and finished their championships with relative ease. But they had fairly dark and nose pigment for dilutes as well. While Inga's nose is darkish, her eye color is definitely lighter than correct under our standard (although it is continuing to darken and like most dilutes, her eyes will darken a bit more with age). The judges will have to decide if she is worthy of consideration despite having an eye color which is faulted under our standard. We feel that rest of her balances it out.

So, judges will do what judges will do, but this is one solid dilute brindle we are happy to show off. Although she is not tall at the shoulder, she gives a bigger impression than she is. She has good body and bone for her height. It will be interesting to see how she is received by judges, but we have already made up our mind that we are pleased with her and will use her to go on with. It's easy to breed them bigger and darker over here...what's hard is getting the right outline and gait. But that's true anywhere you go.

I think she is a very classy, classic looking young lady - best of luck with her :luck:

Oh yeah, I would describe her colour the same I do Monty's - brown with stripes :- "

Brown with stripes doesn't pull the chicks.

I would recommend something with a bit more tone, yet manly....maybe Filet Mignon Lightly Marbled Thru with Brindle?

She also likes staying nice and warm. Karen, you have to post that picture of Inga in her fleece and wool finery!

Ok, here is Inga in fleece pajamas, AND a coat, AND a hand-knitted Whippetschood! She was ready for roll call.

Of course, her mother was probably wanting to be back home melting in front of the wood stove.....

Or inside a snuggle bed.

How about milk chocolate fudge ripple?
wow, great ideas!!!! (w00t)

I've got the best 'background' colour for Monty - bourbon!!

Ooo, got it all now - bourbon marbled with cigar smoke ripples, that manly enough? ;)

I'm glad to see that you know how to look after those whippies properly  ;) :D

Oh Inga, you are all grown up now. She is looking very bonny, a credit to Mabel and that gorgeous hunky Pungo. Good luck in the ring, Who will be at the end of the lead I wonder, Kristen or Karen?

Karen always did have a fine line in colour descriptions, worthy of Farrow and Ball or at the very least a fashion journalist!

I personally love rose fawn as a description, and I prefer gold fawn for the ones that I usually show although I seem to have segwayed into a brindle medley these days. Fingers crossed that my Rainbows will be up to scratch.

Probably a little of both. I like to watch my dogs being shown and don't like being in the ring, but Inga and I have a good working relationship so far.

I hope I will be, but also our current handler of Delta, the girl from Oz, will be taking Inga to shows I can't get to.

We will undoubtedly have a huge fight over who will receive the privilege of showing Her Oh-So-Frosty Majesty, someday!

Inga is on The Whippet Archives if you would like to see her American side pedigree in full with pictures. One of my all time favorite Surrey Hill whippets is behind her...Katie... Am./Can. Ch. Surrey Hill's I'm No Angel.

Well, Inga went to her first AKC dog show today. We wondered what an American judge would make of our petite solid dilute beauty.

She went Best of Breed for her first two points towards her championship! Yay!

LOVE Inga! :huggles:

She did this by going BOB over MY Champion bitch!! One which I was paying my hard-gotten cash to a handler to show for me!

HATE Inga!

As you can see, I am a little bit conflicted about Inga the Ringa today....
