My whippys love raw and cooked veggies....BUT I only have to get the carrots out and Cash is by my side waiting.... How does he know that they are carrots? I prepare spuds, cabbage, parsnips etc.... and he does not come into the kitchen... I put a carrot on the worktop and like magic he is there! He does not see me get them out of the fridge?

What Veggies does your whippy like?

Raw carrots too

But they are also very partial to fruit as well, strawberries, apple and quite strangely orange segments (w00t)

Mine too!!!!!!! love carrots the best!! also like apples, pears, they have both most days fruit and veg! thye like carrots grated on their dinner too :- "

My lurcher pup adores fruit - particulary apples, pears and bananas - he wasn't too keen on a satsuma segment the other day though! He does tend to eat most things on offer though and feels it is only right that he should have a try of anything we are eating!

Carrots, brocolli, turnip and parsnip - yes and most fruits too apples, pears, strawberries,

carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, sprouts, runner beans, parsnips, potatoes............... anything really!!! TJ is the worst, I have yet to find ANYTHING that he will not eat and the worst ones for thieving are the foreigners. They are so blatant with it!!!

The other thing that old black dog absolutely LOVES is bread. The others like it but Dante would kill for bread!!!!

 Josie loves carrots too! I often grate it onto their dinner. I've tried them with pretty much anything and everything, and it all seems to go down if its mixed with raw meat

Lola's favourite treat is to gnaw on an apple core :b

Hmmm, the bread thing sounds familiar too  If ever the lead is yanked hard and Josie goes snorting in the grass then I can guess that our local bird-feeding-lady has done the rounds

dante isnt a whippy, but he ADORES fried peppers  his mum, amber, is the same way when it comes to peas :D

Our whippets eat all veg raw & all our puppies are given carrots to chew on while they are teething & continue to eat them in adulthood

my lot will eat grated carrot to be polite :- " But they really only like vegetables if they're dipped in curry, casserole sauce, gravy etc!

Having said that they all love roasted sweet potato & butternut squash :)

Frodo prefers salad and veg to meat!! If I go anywhere near a lettuce or broccoli he goes frantic for a piece (w00t) We wonder if he was a veggi or a wabbit in his last life and still misses those things terribly

My sisters whippet Tizer likes stealing kiwi fruit skins out of the bin! But he likes stealing anything! :- " :- " Despite being 14 and virtually deaf and blind, he still has all his senses when it comes to hunting out food!! :D

Mine eat most veggies but Owen will do anything for cauliflower leaves and if he gets hold of the stalk he thinks all his birthdays have come in one go. Of cause they have to be raw cooked just wan't do Trouble is it doesn't half get smelly later he gets turfed out for ages cause the whippet farts are :x

William on the other hand loves mashed potatoes

Same here we give them to puppys for teething, and they love them still as adults!

Max and Beau love their carrots. Beau likes broccoli as well. It tastes even better when it is stolen off the kitchen bench :- "

Frozen chips !!!!!
That reminds me of Coco in her younger days, she was a horror for jumping onto the work surfaces and stealing whatever was up there. One day it was a curry 'ready meal' taken out to de-frost for the OH's supper. It had been taken out of the sleeve, the film lid carefully peeled back at one corner and the entire contents gone without trace (whilst frozen)!!!!

Reminds me of the time I was preparing the veggies for a casserole. As usual I was tossing bits onto the kitchen floor for the gang, when I dropped a clove of garlic. Ivan pounced on it immediately, proud of getting to something new before his granny. I could see his expression slowly changing as he bit into it. He obviously hated it, but just HAD to eat it because HE'd got it any he wasn't giving it up for anyone else. I gave him a bit of carrot to take the taste away, but he really couldn't understand why nobody wanted him to kiss them all evening.

My Tess is exactly like that about parmesan cheese, all I have to do is take some out of the frigde and she can be fast asleep in the living room and she comes through like a bullet to sit at my feet.
