Rufus arrived yesterday :D and has kept me busy ever since. None of my shortlisted names stuck, but Rufus (which I'd already rejected) seems to fit.

So far He's explored every nook & cranny several times, tormented Ben mercilessly, punched me in the eye  tried to dig through the carpet, chewed and slept!

He keeps having mad half hours, then he suddenly stops dead, lays down sphynx-like with his brow all wrinkled looking sooo serious   . He gives the impression of being half cartoon character, half heavyweight intellectual (w00t) .

Ben is not impressed at all, but remarkably tolerant of having a puppy attached to his tail  .

I, on the other hand, am impressed beyond belief :) :D  :D :) :p :huggles:

but very, very tired!

Now the important bit...pictures.

Wow!

Rufus is such a great name! Very regal in an ancient sort of way (weren't there kings called Rufus?) It's funny how we agonise over a name and as soon as we meet the dog, the right name just comes

He's such a lovely rich colour.

yay...Rufus is home. Lots more photos and updates to follow hopefully.

He's lovely...bet you love it when he flops down after his mad half an hour, and peace resides once more.

He really suits Rufus - what an appropriate name for such a gorgeous coloured puppy.

I once entered a competition for naming 4 squirrels at a sanctuary - I put down Rufus, Rusty, Rouge and Rastus ... :( but I didnt win - Never mind.

Such a lovely boy and now looking very Pharaoh like

All these new puppy stories of terrorising and dashing about....i've got it all to come on Saturday!!!

He's lovely :huggles:

he is gorgeous   one of my favourite from the hound group

He's gorgeous :D and the name is perfect for him

Good choice of name - it fits a Pharaoh down to the ground.

My friend has one - I thought whippets were avid hunters but Pharaohs are up another gear. :teehee: Did you get him from Blackpool? If so he is related to my friends pharaoh.

Good name choice in the end, really does suit him. Super pictures

Stunning pup - Welcome home Rufus!!!!

Saw a gorgeous Pharaoh Hound winning the Hound Group at Paignton last week - let's see if I can copy the pic from Highampress!!

He is gorgeous, love his rich colour and those beautiful blue eyes.

Great name for him.

The name reminded me of a deep chestnut horse called Red Rufus that I rode many years ago .

Thanks for your complements on Rufus and his name :D , can't believe I thought about it for 7 and a half weeks and then one just randomly popped into my head  .

Rufus seems to be settling in well, and Ben is slowly coming to terms with it. In the first couple of hours Ben whined and kept away. By yesterday he was making mournful 'Chewbacca' type noises which finally changed to proper growls and barks and he started to play a bit, tail wagging.

This morning... :huggles:

It only lasted a few minutes til Ben twitched his ear and Rufus engulfed it with his mouth and chomped down (w00t) Then anarchy....again.

Yes I got him from Blackpool, who's your friend's Pharaoh, seems to be a few of them in lancashire for some reason.
