I have noticed, through lurking on this forum, that no one seems to just stick to one whippet. It is almost as though, through contact with one puppy, some kind of addiction takes hold and the one puppy becomes the first puppy.

What's going on?

Anyway, I can handle it, man. I am strong and wont have a whippet problem.

I am completely in control . . . .

:D

just one whippet?????!!!! (w00t) think we should all have a poll on how long before he gets his next :- " :D i dont count coz i only have 5 iggys and 2 whippys :p

Well............................................................................

.......................

I only have one BUT we hope to breed a litter when she is old enough and guess what, yes we want to keep a puppy.

To be honest, I always said that when I lost my first (he was mummies boy, I miss him dearly) next time I would have two, it just makes sense.

Also when I lived at home we had varoius breeds Red Setters to Jack Russells, but never have I had such a real best friend than my Whippet.

Funny how Whippets seem to know other Whippets are Whippets, if I am making any sense at all!

Have you ever read a poem Dawn put on K9 some time ago, perhaps if you ask nicely she will put it on again.

It was entitled "BET YOU CAN'T OWN JUST ONE"

You'll love it.

Seven years ago we had our first whippet Jasper but in those seven years our family has now grown to 7 whippets one greyhound and a red setter maybe another arriving soon but she is OH's dogs .He likes to have a proper dog as he calls her I just call her a flaming menace but thats what he calls the greyhound so fairs fair

couldnt imagine life with just one whippy , perish the thought (w00t)

Nobody can, its a very contagious condition, leave now , run, save yourself :p :p

Well i had just the one for quite a long time - don't worry though, am all better now!

Don't bother even trying to resist, as an addiction goes it is as GOOD AS IT GETS!!

Hi, I was only going to have 1 whippet but when she was 12 months old we got

another whippet :) and who knows when number 3 will arrive :- "

I think they have some sort of powers with your emotions and you have to have

VERY strong will power to resist adding another LOL

Especially for you Parker Ink

I hope Dawn doesn't mind me repeating this poem.

BET YOU CAN'T OWN JUST ONE

Why own a whippet? there's a danger you know

You can't own just one, for the craving will grow

No doubt they're addictive, wherein lies the danger

While living with lots, you'll grow poorer and stranger

One whippet is no trouble, and two are funny

the third one is easy, the fourth one's a honey

The fifth is delightful, the sixth one's a breeze

You find you can live with a houseful, with ease

So how about another? would you really dare?

They're really quite easy, but O Lord the hair!

With dogs on the sofa, and dogs on the bed

And crates in the kitchen, it's no bother you said

They're really no trouble, their manners are great

What's just one more dog and one more crate?

The sofa is hairy, the windows are crusty

The floor is all footprints, the furniture's dusty

The housekeeping suffers, but what do you care?

Who minds a few noseprints and a little more hair

So let's keep a puppy, you can always find room

And a little more time for the duster and broom

There's hardly a limit to the dogs you can add

The thought of a cutback, sure makes you feel sad

Each one is so special, so useful, so funny

The food bill grows larger, you owe the Vet money

Your family never visit, few friends come to stay

Except other dog folk who live the same way

Your lawn has now died, and your shrubs are dead too

Your weekends are busy, you're off with your crew

There's dog food and vitamins, training and shots

and entries and travel, and motels cost lots

Is it worth it you wonder? Are you caught in a trap?

Then your favourite comes up and climbs on your lap

Her look says you're special and you know you will

keep all these critters in spite of the bill

Some just for showing, and some just to breed,

and some just for loving, they all fill a need

Winter's a hassle, but the dogs love it true

They must have their walk, tho' you're numb and blue

Late evening is awful, you scream and you shout

at the dogs on the sofa who refuse to go out

The dogs and the dog shows, the travel, the thrills

the work and the worry, the pleasure, the bills

The whole thing seems worth it,the dogs are your life

They're charming and funny, and offset the strife

Your lifestyle has changed, things just won't be the same

Yes, those whippets are addictive and so's the dog game

We started with just one (Morgan) and thought awww she looks lonely. ;)

So we chose number two (Chloe) who developed a serious life-threatening illness :(

So we had a litter from number one and she had two pups....

and we kept both of them (Zinzin and Pheonix)

Then Chloe sadly died :( :'(

Then we went to visit a litter to 'help' a friend o:) o:) and came home with another.....The Supermodel

Then OH said "My turn to choose!" and along came a Milly-lab :clown:

Then I met iggies..... and whooooops... a little boy touched down and Zoomed about, (w00t) :teehee:

Then we thought awww he looks lonely so along came a little Lottie to keep him company.... o:)

 and the moral of the story is..... well there isn't one really, just buckets and buckets of bonkers dog love :p

AND NO MORE DOGS.... although I know someone who has some gorgeous whippet puppies......

(w00t)

You guys have serious problems man. :D

I will not fall victim to this insidius (sp?) addiction. o:)

i have seen a similar thing happen to owners of horses and Bengal cats.

I also have a bengal cat . . . . and a horse . . .

Oh no, I am in serious trouble (w00t) (w00t)

that was a very good poem btw.

There is no such thing as ONE whippet :- "

As I always tell people when I'm out walking my gang, they come as a "set" and you have to collect the lot! :p
