Thats fantastic news sarahThanks for all the replies guys...so nice to be welcomed back after being so naughty!
June, yes we did get the results back. The tumour originated from a cell wall (not in the bone), the lymph nodes were clear which indicates that the tumour was completely removed by removing the leg. The tumour was confined to the leg and even though it had completely taken hold in the majority of the leg (indicating he had had it there for a while) it was slow growing (thank God). The vet is happy that the tumour has been completely removed and he is now classed as a healthy 10 year old dog!
At the time I didn't think any of us could get through it. I will say again though that the words of support that I received from everyone on here really helped me. Sonia for one shared her story with me (and I know it broke her heart to relive it again) and it really gave me the strength to carry on. And the others (jinnyfizz, Affieluver, June, Debbie, Trac, Hula (Hula's daughter) thank you all so very much. I will never forget how kind you all were to me.
For anyone else reading this who has to consider amputation, the first two weeks are the worst...after that you have to deal with the guilt of making such a decision when you see your little one fall time and time again. But the determination of your baby shines through. They fall and they get up and they try again. We could all learn a lot from their determination. Not once has Arnie given up...not even when he's got a mouth full of grass or landed in a heap on the floor after trying to get off the couch....he just gets up, shakes himself off (yes, he has learnt to shake again!) and carries on. He can also pee on 2 legs! Its quite something to watch. I am a proud woman
As for work, yes they do get in the way of my personal life! At least I wasn't the one with high 'Twitter' usage! I could at least explain my K9 surfing as a support network.
So with all that said, Im now off to go and do some work (well, maybe make a coffee first!). I will post some Arnie pics soon.
Have a great day everyone.
