A White Bitch

i dont know many racing.show past whippets, but i can vaguely remember a white whippet in a book and the name had 'Tinker' or 'moon' in it
most proberly totally wrong..duh

im sure someone knows appart from yourself
Good try Haycroft but this was well before Tinker's moon any thing.

I know the photo is black & white but is that just to fool us :- could it be Lady in white owned by shirley rawlings and I know the bitch did all 3 event's  and was 28lbs
Hi Tina & Colin

You made me think?

But no this is from way back before coloured photography - you are both too young to remember B&W photos I sure.

The Lady in White or White Lady was a good choice but was only 22lbs, sister of RCh Picketty Witch both bred by Joyce Keable.

I remember a storey about her that went some thing like White Lady - never run the bends - too fast to corner!!

:clown:

No Summersway, wrong type. Is it from the 60s?????
May be!

One thing for sure when this white bitch was born England were Football World Champions

Rooney or Hurst ?? sorry wrong sport

The date of this show is before Mexico and the Bobby Moore jewellery incident!

Polly - Franciscan Polyanthus?
I've no idea really, just fits the criteria.

I think Tina's guess of Lady in White (Chyton Quelle Chance) could be right.
WELL DONE Judy yes it is Reg and Cis Francis's Poly

She was a good scratch runner, under 20" but born too early in the History of Racing ie 1966 some 44 years ago.

I cam across this picture in my search for Photos of old racers.

In the Picture Poly has just won the bitch section of the Racing & Coursing classes at the Whippet Club's Show 1970.

She was 16 months old.

Chyton Quelle Chance is a white bitch, in that photo she doesn't look right, maybe it's not her. I don't know. I think she was the only white whippet Shirley had.
No one of Shirley's

Judy got her she is Reg & Cis's Poly

Good work Bertha

I've got another up my sleve so watch this space.

In reply to Marks questions Rob said nothing to do with any book earlier. So that leaves out Shirley Rawlings and the Chyton dogs (I think).
Barbara - or should I call you Dr Watson

A good bit of detective work - but Judy had beaten you all with the right answer.

I have another picture so will set the question after the weekend.

Thanks for taking part I hope you didn't loose too much sleep.

Rob...

Laguna????? maybe.
Interesting point for you Bertha - a Laguna bitch (Laguna Lysandra) was put to a Franciscan dog (Franciscan Genista) and the result was RCh Hideaway top 16lber a little after, but Hideaway was born around the time of the Picture.

Did you know Dave & I bred WCRCh Hideaway & we owned Laguna Lynsandra, she was mated on the day that my eldest daughter Lesley was born, 14th January 1970.

Mr & Mrs Frances took us to Mrs McKay's to get her. We would often take Polly racing for them

The good old days

I have her as being born 1/10/68 Rob.

Hi Rob, Just to let you know Lady in white was breed by shirley rawlings out of Zola and RCH champagne Charlie, she was a 28lb pure white bitch, racing, coursing, and the ring, there was a litter of 12 unfortuntley 1 died, I had judgement day and jan and toddy had tally o.

Sorry just to let you know and we do remember black and white just lol

I have her as being born 1/10/68 Rob.
Hi Judy

I have her dob as 1/10/66

but if she was a 66 pup she would have been 4 at the show

when I know she was less than 2 ie dob 68

Thanks for the correct dob had it wrong since 1985. another error found.

Hi Colin & Tina

I can find 'Lady in White' by her KC name in the coursing records

Top puppy 93/4 & top bitch 94/5, 95/6 this record wound put her in the Coursing Hall of Fame

but can find no ref to Chyton Quelle Chance, white bitch 19 7/8" in the Racing records

Thanks for the info any way.

Assume she never won champ final during that period.

For those interested

Just found Poly's coursing record

Poly was a top pup in 69/70 so must have a dob of 1968.

Poly's g dam was Wisteria of Laguna so she was part Laguna
