My sisters whip x was called Ainsley when he was rescued! She changed it to Tizer.

HI EVERYONE.....WELL HOME-CHECK OVER, WE WILL BE COLLECTING SOPHIE AS SHE IS CALLED AT THE MOMENT... ON SATURDAY!

BUT SOPHIE WAS THE NAME GIVEN TO HER BY THE OWNERS WHO DISCARDED HER LIKE A PIECE OF RUBBISH........  :rant:   :rant:

SATURDAY IS A NEW BEGINING! :huggles:

SHE WAS RESCUED BY 'MANY TEARS RESCUE' IN WALES, ON THE 22-12-05. AND THIS PHOTO WAS TAKEN ON THE DAY OF HER ARRIVAL, SHE COULD'NT EVEN HOLD HER OWN HEAD UP!

SHE IS ABOUT 1 YEAR OLD IS MOSTLY WHITE....

AT THE MOMENT WE HAVE 4 WHIPPETS... MY HUSBAND SHORTENS ALL NAMES... I AM DAWN, HE CALLS ME DAW!

HE ALSO ADDS Y's ONTO ALL THE DOGS NAMES SO:

WE HAVE -

CASH = CA - CASHY

CHASE = CHA - CHASY

PUZZLE = PUZ - PUZZY

BREEZE = BRE - BREEZY

SO WHAT SUGGESTIONS CAN YOU ALL MAKE....

INDEED DO YOU THINKS IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO CHANGE HER NAME?

DO YOU THINK IT SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT SOUNDS SIMILAR, TO HER NAME NOW?

I REALLY WANT TO CHANGE IT, BECAUSE IT WOULD CONSTANTLY REMIND ME OF THE PEOPLE WHO TREATED SHE SO BADLY.. ALTHOUGH IT IS QUITE A NICE NAME, IT's A PEOPLE NAME!!! NONE OF OUR DOGS ARE GIVEN HUMAN NAMES....

Another name I like is Zalee (I taught a girl with this name once - she was a lovely girl, she pronounced it Zay-lee) Then there was an Australian Olympic ( skiier?) Zalee Steggle and I think she pronounced it Zah-lee)

Human names, yes, but not very common.

She is extremely lucky to have found such a fantastic new "mummy & daddy"I wish you all the luck in the world with her. :luck: :thumbsup:

I dont think changing her name will bother her too much.We had a rescue whippet who had been called Phoebe by her pig of an owner she was 2yrs old when we got her and I just had to change it because it would've reminded me never mind her of him :angry: so she ended up being called Marlo and picked it up pretty quickly Unfortunately the man that owned her had actually mentally and physically abused her so much that in the end the kindest thing we could for her was to put her to sleep And it still burns me that he got away with it and still has whippets :rant: he got two more after her :angry: :angry:

Why do these people exist,and what sort of twisted,sick, saddistic enjoyment do they get out of bullying and beating a dog :rant: :rant: :rant:

Well shes a very lucky dog to have found such a great home. What about Fortune...Fortuna is Lucky in italian...so just shorten it to fortune.

She looks a real sweetie,well done. We have always renamed our rescue dogs with no problem (exept for Jasper who thought his new name was getdarn)

How about India which of course would shorten to Indy.
