(re)Introducing Agatha Christie, lurcher* extraordinaire!

On her ten week birthday yesterday we celebrated with our first emergency trip to the vets. Observant readers will know she had already been picky about her kibble but yesterday she ate breakfast and then nothing else and went completely limp and lethargic with wobbly back legs and went back to pure liquid poos in the afternoon. The final straw was when she barely lifted her head when her pal the [fully vaccinated] neighbourhood lab came round to play.

Vet said to bring her in to be sure but after some checks were happy it was related to upset tummy (possibly from worming pill). So she got a steroid for appetite and some fancy royal canine food which she's been eating with scrambled eggs today.

Slowly getting her energy back, nosing around the flowerpots and we have just had a miniature zoomie round the living room. Hurray!

*Bedlington whippet x saluki greyhound, probably some other long dog along the way for good measure.

Also, two weeks in to lurcher ownership and we've already fenced off the veggie plot and now considering leaving our bit of lawn to become a meadow

Second attempt today to have Aggie's second jab; we went in on Monday but vet decided against it as we were still on very wet poos and didn't want to overwhelm her if tummy still not right (obvs she then came home and produced a perfectly solid specimen, but this was swiftly followed by another game of "hose the brown liquid off the patio").

She also stopped eating her food completely again, so my partner picked up some Lily's kitchen (the most expensive one in the shop, naturally, as I pointed out grumbling about paying more for fancy packaging etc) We introduced that over three days starting with 25%/75% rice and a bit of wet butchers. We're now up to 100% dog food and have had a clean bowl at every meal all week, and proper solid poos for the past two days. So I now won't hear a word against Lilys kitchen! I actually contemplated texting a photo of the first solid poo to my partner who was working during the momentous occasion, but decided that may be crossing an invisible line.

So her immunity is going to be another week rather than just a few days as we had hoped. A bit frustrating as she is growing like the clappers in spite of all the tummy stuff, and her legs are now getting so long its quite awkward to carry her around on her neighbourhood "walks" (we went up to see the otter who has moved into a nearby loch a few days ago; very important otter socialisation). But on the other hand the puppy class trainer has been grand and will provide a big tarp so she can come to the first class as planned and meet some other puppies on her tarp "bio bubble" . Really looking forward to that.

She is very cute.. And you wouldn't have been the 1st person to want to 'celebrate' a solid poo and share the moment when your dog has had issues!!!

Lily's Kitchen is a good brand. No point buying cheap food - you get what you pay for.

You have a really good vet that they wait until she is completely better before vaccinating.

Two more days til we can "release the hound"!!!

Poos and eating still fine, gawd bless Lilys Kitchen. We're trying her afternoon feed in a kong today - although when we gave her the kong the first time she just sat on it for an hour like she was laying an egg and got peanut butter all over herself. Let's see if she can figure it out this time...

Also had to get her a coat as she was shivering like mad by the end of the puppy class outside on a very windswept field. She'll probably have grown out of it by the third class... However I think this is my favourite photo so far - like a kid on their first day at school!

It's possible I'm just a wee bit biased, but it's also possible this is the most beautiful dog in the history of dogindom.

Even as she launches herself like a stealth missile onto the bed (a new trick) and digs up my winter lettuce plants several months too early and apparently prefers to go home with literally any other human she meets in the park rather than with us

She is very lovely..And she's always looking straight at the camera, you can almost feel her!!
