A genuine question for Andover regulars. As I am still learning, could any-one explain the number system. obviously Scr is scratch, but does the number denote the poundage difference or the yardage difference EG.

Is Rio Venture 2 lb lighter and therefore perhaps a yard off the front if the handicap is 1/2 yd/pound or 2 yards off the front?

Hi Jo,

Just to confuse you for the bends the back dog was scratch and the other dogs were forward from that by a yard a mark and for the straight racing the front dog was scratch and the dogs were minus so many behind. So Merle on -2 1/2 had to give two and a half yards to the front dog. Some very harsh handicapping! (w00t) LoL
