I cannot bring myself to actually view this video, I know if I do those images will never go away. After seeing videos and images of other horrendous cruelties on other sites but mainly on the Peta site, terrified dogs and racoons being skinned alive for their fur and dogs with their front legs tied behind their backs, their shoulders dislocated in the process and then having a rusty can rammed into their faces while they wait for their barbaric deaths. For these dogs, death cannot come a moment too soon, their terrible suffering finally ended. Those images are very disturbing, but I'm so glad they are available for the world to see, at least people are becoming aware of what really goes on, but as I said, I really cannot view them, I know it will be too upsetting.

The Spanish people are not renowned for their love of animals.

A day out is taking the kids to a bullfight, hmmm, great family entertainment. They watch a frightened bull being terrorized and agonisingly tortured before it is finally killed and they call it fun.

I dont really think we can tar them all with the same brush though here.

On my recent holiday in Ibiza (still part of Spain) I saw various breeds of dogs clearly loved by their owners out on their daily walks, just like some of us here. Ive been to several parts of spain - but never attend any bull fighting because thats my choice.

Cruelty exists in all Nationalities. Look at cock fighting and dog fighting .... I bet it still goes on in some corners of this country

Nothing personal here Mandy :)

cock fighting and dog fighting may go on in this country but i think youre missing the point here, its done undercover, its something to be ashamed of and hidden.also if caught doing this our laws have penalties to be handed down to the people involved in this thus showing that our society doesnt condone cruelty to animals.theres no laws in spain about bull fighting that im aware of.in spain its put on as a PUBLIC DISPLAY as an entertainment. the torture of a bull, donkey or any other animal they can think of that wont arouse strong feelings of disgust is glorified and the tormentors are put on a pedestal and looked up to as strong macho role models.in this country i think theyd be lynched!

Hadnt thought about it that way Kris - but see what you mean now and agree with that.

But as for the dog cruelty ... just the same as other countires to me.

cheers hun,but i know im preaching to the converted here, everyone on this site loves animals :huggles:

edited the title for you beej.

cant face looking at the link though :(

 THE POOR DOG .HOW CAN ANY ONE DO THAT TO AN ANIMAL.I HOPE HE HAS A SLOW SUFFERING DEAF AND ROTS IN HELL.IT MAKES U WONDER WHAT ELSE HE COULD BE CAPABLE OF DOING ..EVIL BAST---.

That video clip will stay with me for some time.

That poor dogs screaming is just horrific.

The more i see of people the more i despise the human race(sorry to the few nice folks out there).

I won't type rude words although i feel like swearing but suffice it to say i would like to get that old man and beat him to death while he screamed for mercy and then i'd burn him while he could still feel the flames.

People like that just fill me with hatred.

heart breaking :( :(

I know that this is probably very cowardly, but i can't watch clips like that :(

I don't need to see footage of a dog being beaten to picture the horror of it.....and images stay in my head for a long time.

this isn't a criticism btw Beejay, people do need to know what goes on - but i just can't look :(

Please do not look at the video if you are upset by animal abuse.
Animal cruelty in Spain.

>in Spain a man beat his dog to death and burnt the corpse with petrol the man was filmed and reported to the police by a vet.

Anyway the man (Juan Lado) was fined 6000 Euros but a vigilante mob was waiting outside the court for blood.

They were waiting for the VET!

More people should know what goes on in parts of Spain as in regards animal cruelty and the authorities attitude towards it. this story has not had anywhere near enough coverage about it.

WELL I HAVE TO SAY IM SOOO FUKN SHOCKED THAT I FEEL FUKN ILL !!

WHAT A EVIL f***IN SPANISH **** I HOPE HE GETS f***N KILLED ..PAINFULLY FOR THAT !!   IM SOOOOOOOOO FUKN MAD NOW. THIS SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF...ITS TOO MUCH !!

why put a clip like that on when you have kids on the site ive not looked neither will i look at any post of that nature no one can help that dog now no one on this site will stop it happening again i find it odd/perverse that people actually look at it

I can't watch it anyway,I don't know why things like this are put on we all know it happens and we can use our imaginations well enough without having to watch animals suffer, all it does is make you feel totally helpless :(

If there's something we can do about it tell us, without the clips

i understand what youre saying but i also understand that only by bringing this sort of thing to light can we hope to try to put an end to it.if its isnt given any publicity then how are we to know about it or try to stop it?lots of cruel things over the years have only been brought to light by the courage of the people who have had the guts to film things like this in order to make sure that the public see it and are AWARE of it.im thinking of things like whale and seal killing, cruel unneccessary animal experiments (remember huntingdon life sciences?) and many other things.ok a lot of them havent stopped completely but some of them have and some of them have brought about changes in legislation,as people have been made aware of whats going on around them.if the spanish government are made to realise that publicity like this and bull fighting etc will only discourage foreigners from visiting and spending money in their country, then its a good thing,as they might change their laws to give more protection to animals .the worldwide outcry that pictures like this generate help the animal lovers in those countries far more than all the advertising does.beejay, although i cant watch this film i do want to say thankyou for putting it on here and bringing it to our attention. what i think now is needed is maybe a link to the spanish tourist office or the department of tourism in spain so we can all voice our disgust and tell the spanish authorities that we wont be visiting their country and why.then maybe that dog didnt suffer and die in vain.maybe his death will help to change legislation in that country, and wake up those in authority that this sort of thing isnt a good advertisement for their country :(

kris, point well made

Wouldn't it have been better if the man filming it had tried to stop it instead, I understand that shocking people into doing something is part of life, thats why we always get tons of adverts on at christmas from the NSPCC, I've donated to that for years without been guilt tripped into it, but what I'm asking genuinely is what are we supposed to do about whats happening in Spain? I've never been there but people won't stop going there even when things like this happen, and how many people have actually avoided the link and for those who havent what have they been able to do?

These are genuine questions I am appalled by any form of cruelty

but if the man filming had tried to stop it he could have been killed, there's np reason to think the guy beating the dog was going to stop if someone tried to intervene.

actually some people would be put off going there if they saw that film, its not a matter of guilt tripping anyone it's just highlighting something horrific.

quite obviously now we've seen the clip there is nothin g we can do for that dog as its dead already but if just one person who views that clip does something to help prevent it happening to another dog ,then it was worth showing it.

people may be moved to donate money to rescues, give their time, aid in a cruelty campaign etc etc etc.

while i found it very upsetting i still think it is very right to show it after all you don't have to look if you choose not to. It makes it much much harder for this sort of cruelty to go by unnoticed if there is plenty of publicity surrounding even one case.

sometimes showing someone doing something is more effective than telling you about it.ever heard the saying a picture tells a thousand words?every picture tells a story?why should the guy take his life in his hands and challenge the guy killing the dog?for all we know there may have been others present who would have attacked him going on the reaction when this man was taken to court.noone would have seen the pictures then so although i wouldnt have stood by i would have put my life on the line for this or any other dog i saw a bully attacking i dont expect everyone to hold my point of view.i once interefered with a drug dealer attacking a dog.if i had been a man i think he would have killed me without even thinking about it.as it was he was absolutely furious and had steam coming out of his ears. :sweating: i know some folk think this should be a nice fluffy site with only nice posts put on but tbh the world isnt a nice fluffy place and if theres things going on in that world that are offensive to us then sorry but thats the way it is.some people WILL stop going to spain and will write to the spanish authorities about this making their objections felt.if enough folk do it then the govenment WILL take notice.its called democracy.thats how we change thimgs we dont like.the problem is a lot of us are lacking in motivation when we see things like this.instead of saying im going to do something about this, they say whats the point of this, we cant do anything about it.i admire folk who walk up to the line and say so far no further.who actually do something when they see things like this, that they know are WRONG.

I dont disagree with you kris but it goes on here too and it's damned hard to get anything dont about animal cruelty in our backyard let alone another country, when I was on about the man I meant more in the way of getting the police not to dive in and risk himself.

The fluffy and nice was given to me by another k9 member and is a bit of fun and yes I do like it to be like that don't you? but that by no means makes me naive I'm far from it, there's not much about this site that is fluffy and nice these days anyway lets face it there is more arguing on here than community spirit anyway :(

i dont think you have to be fluffy to have community spirit. ;) some of the most community minded folk i know are FAR from fluffy!

and me personally no, i dont do fluffy and nice.but far be it from me to stop you hun,you carry on! :D

i totally disagree with your statement about people on here arguing and not having any community spirit.why not ask mally if he agrees with that?what about all that debs has done and others like her who have community spirit in abundance!theres a lot of good things that have been achieved on this site by the members, maybe they arent fluffies but they get stuck in and do things to help animals in distress and they dont want to be looked upon as saints for it,and they dont ask for any thanks for it,they just do it! :huggles:

i think the vet probably did get the police thats why the man was prosecuted.but i very much doubt the police got there in time to stop him. :(

Some really good points brought out here . I think we all know cruelty to animals happens all over the world  ,

Its what can be done to stop it that matters , people  who do these thing s are IMO mentally ill, and do so as it makes them feel superior I suppose

Ive chickened out of watching the video as I have a vivid enough imagination without seeing the graphics . The thought of it makes me feel sick .
