I decided at the last minute to travel up to the show as we were well organised today with dogs galloped, a bitch mated to NINGBO JACK and 2 visitors been and gone !

Thanks to `Stormy` who kept me posted before I left, I didn`t have that long to wait before the racing. Still a two and a half hour drive and a hour and a half of a wait before the racing makes for a long afternoon !

The track was around 175 yards up a slight incline and looked ok at a distance, but on closer inspection was VERY bumpy and the running surface was VERY rough and prickly after a recent cut of silage.

Well done to ZENA who beat MISS TORI in her heat (Nice to see her back in action !). ERNIE came from behind PARIS to land heat 2 and NIKITA landed heat 3 for Mr.Harper.

I nearly missed the final as I was sure they would run it after the heats of the `Overs`, but for some strange reason the organisers wanted to run the final straight after the heats !

Now come on lads, have a bit of `cop on` !

ZENA won the final by a couple of lengths from NIKITA with ERNIE just half a length back in third.

Sorry didn`t stay for the `overs` as I headed home, arriving back at 8.30.

Looked to be well organised and was enjoyed by everyone present.

I`m sure Billy will be posting some photos and watch out for Stormy Johns solution to the hard going at Shanes Castle !

The only downside was the pis* head staggering around with the 5 week old pup attempting to `feed` it to Bull X`s !

Best of luck to everyone next week !

Regards.

Congratulations to you all, nice to see Tori back racing,Rose  :)

yes mate if ian ran this week at shanes we would see a good race

I think i`ll have to get a new slipper Stormy ! Judging by the photos, it looks like Ian and Kirsty stole a yard on you and Ernie at the start ! -_-

Over in the UK it`s the smaller dogs that get the head start ! ! :D

As the photo was taken at an angle, that is impossible to judge. What I would say though is Zena looks like she's well trained at slipping as she's got her claws in the ground and is pushing herself off for a flying start.

Really don't understand why people try to put a downer on a dog's win, it just shows you up for being a bad loser.

Well done to all those running today, win or loose I hope you and your dogs had a great day.

The best dog on the day clearly won and she would beat me 9/10 and I have no problem with that, was just `slagging` Stormy for getting caught cold ! I travelled up, just to give the little fellow a run, knowing that he`s going to be against bigger and heavier dogs ! I have travelled to Tipperary, Belfast, Portlaiose and Enniscorthy knowing this, just for the Sport and too support events.

I know how much you won by I was standing there ! ! Wouldn`t have beat you with a yard start. There again, if I had a 40lb + half bred I would expect to beat a 32 lb Whippet ! Won`t be in Shanes Castle next week as i`m in the States !

Start saving for your petrol money down to Roscrea in August ! See do you fancy taking on the proper dogs from the South or do you just stay `local` ? Mind you there`s not a bad bitch up the North, whose name escapes me 8) , that will lap you next week all being equal ! ! :- "

martin zena will win anywhere no excuses of being bumped or being bad slipped you got stuffed and dont like it just like the other that shes betin races shes not the 50 50 that shes racing but she can hold her own and will bring it on but dont forget the better dog who you always wanted to bet has been out with big injuries and finished neck and neck today with zena is the best we will ever see run on this island mate at any size or weight

Think you spent too long out in the Sun today Coatsy !Please dont accuse me of being a `bad loser`, that I certainly am not ! :( Bet fair and square ! How many more times do you want me to say it or do you want me to put it in capitals for you ?

ZENA BET ERNIE TODAY FAIR AND SQUARE,NO EXCUSES !

It`s amazing how a bit of light hearted banter aimed at `Stormy` can be taken up all wrong !

ZENA would beat ERNIE like I said 9/10 and i`ll take her on again, no problem should their paths cross and I would expect the same result ! There again would Coatsy travel down this far to compete ? I`ll send you the petrol money just to see you down here at the next organised meet !
