Hi Hilary,

Sorry i've only just caught up with this thread.

you made a very hard decission but in my eyes you made the right decission for the dog, yourself and your other dog.

he's now not suffering, he's not going to be hurt by being passed from 1 home to the next you know that he'll never be hurt again.

Glad to hear Oliver is coming out of himself again.

Good luck for the future.

I am with you Hilary. I have been there, done that and I know exactly how it feels.

Disregard the imbeciles who do not know what they are talking about. They would have preferred that he and his problems be passed on, not thinking for one minute that it would be from pillar to post, nor thinking of the consequences for Arthur and those around him if worse came to worse and he actually killed another dog or seriously hurt a child. And I bet, had it come to that, those people who said "re-home him" would have been the first ones to scream "Put him down - he attacked the child for no reason". Makes my blood boil.

Sleep now dear Arthur and be at peace.

i'm bawling my eyes out, having read arthurs tragic story, as well as all the wonderful support others have given. you are a brave and compassionate human being. it might not seem any consolation right now, but ultimately you put him first. you had the courage to end his pain. a girl i know wouldnt put her lab to sleep, though he had terminal cancer. poor khan spent the last 8mths of his life in serious pain, unable to walk, short of breath as well as incontinant. all because she lacked that courage you possess.

:luck: know that he's out there somewhere, happy and free of his chains :luck:
