saffi has been poorly again not eating or drinking not wanting to play etc, all the signd he had before. Not eating was not so much the worry but refusing water was a bit alarming so on the second day when he showed no improvement we took him to the vets.

He had the full MOT vet said it was a virus , gave him an antibiotic injection and a seven day course of antibiotic tabs and reccmended just light meals etc once his appetite improved.

Saffi did NOT like the thermometer up his bum , sorta gave a (w00t) and a :rant: kinda look and then we took him home.

Guess what he did....................................................

run in the house , drank ALL his water and eat All his food that had been there all afternoon and demanded to play

Good that he was better and a huge relief , just wish he had done it before the £78 fee at the vets

I reckon it was the thermometer that did it :- "

Morale of this tale......if dog poorly....before you go vets...stick thermometer up bum....this then cures dog off all ailments and saves money (w00t)

thank god mine dont need the thermometer,luckily their microchips have thermometers built in,so when they go to the vets they just scan them and get their temperature read. :thumbsup:

Last night Gizmo took ill, he was sick and had the scoots :- " . I slept with him in the livingroom as he wanted out every 1/2 hour , in the morning I fed him chicken but he would not look at it By 10am he was getting dehydrated, so I went and got a syringe and got him to take 10mls every 1/2 hour. I was thinking of taking him to the vet by 1pm as he was so ill looking

I then decided he needed more fluids, so put 30 mls of water into him every 15 mins and then he came into the kitchen as I was feeding the other 2, I hand fed him some chicken, just a little, gave him more water, via the syringe and he got better by the second He's now eating a little every 2 hrs he's not been sick since last night, but he's still got the scoots, but the last time he wanted out was about 3 hrs ago. If he's still not eating good or dehydrated in the morning, he's off to the vet. I think he's got a little bug and hope your wee boy has got the same and is bouncing about daft again very soon :thumbsup:

Sorry to hijack your topic, but I think these is a few bugs going about. If in doubt, get the dog to the vet :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

I dont ever remember being offered the Chip with the thermometer in it so was most bemused when the vet took the dogs temp by waving a device over her neck. Not having kept different types of dog however, I do wonder if sick whippets just look more sadly & pathetic because thats in their nature or that they get more sadly & pathetic because of their physiology. Whatever the case, its a purse stripper every time!
