Bandit is baffling us in the last fortnight he has injured his front right leg....When we first saw him limping there was a cut on his pad which we cleaned with salt water etc....The cut healed but he was still limping so we took him to vets who looked at the cut but as it was clean and no pus coming from it presumed he had pulled a muscle.....by the way you can touch his leg all the way down and squeeze the pads and he shows no sign of any pain anywhere.......so he went on anti inflammorys and anti biotics which seem to work....but as soon as he came off them a few days later he was back to limping again....took him back to vets who has now suggested that on monday they do an exploritory on his pad by putting him under...incase there is something embedded in it..... can any one come up with any suggestions...by the way the pad is not swollen....

Is the limp less than before or the same??

Wondered because my collie did the same thing once and she continued to limp for quite a while even after the cut had healed, but it did lessen over a period of time (probably about 4 weeks or so).

My vet said it was a 'psychological limp' as she was expecting it to hurt and subconciously avoided putting her full weight on it until she finally forgot about it :D Jane

I would say the limp is the same as it originallly...quite pronounced.....thanks for your input I had not thought of that that could be the answer....especially as there is no pain any where....I will mention that to the vet and say could it be psychological as I will admit Bandit can be a wimp.......

The only other thing I thought of was that the pain might be higher up (shoulder area) so that when he is weight bearing and moving forward he is aggravating a musculo-skeletal injury which may have occurred at the same time he cut his pad? Takes longer to heal.

If the vet hasn't yet tried manipulating his shoulder area to check for reaction maybe you could try that route too? :luck: :luck:

my friend had a lurcher with similar problems it had damaged muscle tissue in its shoulder a bit like your baby she never gave much away as to where it hurt had anti biotics and anti inflamotories came off them and was still the same only 6 months rest cured her is a good chance it will reoccur hope all goes well with your little baby
