I've had a nightmare today!! Logged on to my bank website to check accounts and discovered £1500 gone from my a/c in 4 transactions to an overseas a/c I have never heard of! Bank have said I will be reimbursed but I am really shaken up by it, I don't use my card on dodgy sites, have as much internet security as I felt was adequate, but holy hell I nearly died when I looken on my internet banking!! Such as hassle now as I have had to stop my debit card etc and the worry is do they have any more info via the net? Has anybody else had this and how did they deal with it?

Hi Alison

Weve had a similar problem. Can you remember where you have used your card for one, where, dates etc times......

Ours was our Barclaycard and Barclays Fraud department stepped in and dealt with it and luckily we didnt loose a penny because we were covered with them.

But amounts had gone out to online betting.....and online charities in Sweden (w00t) and yes like you we panicked.

My husbands card was also cloned in a petrol station, and not wanting to sound too racist....they were polish workers...and it was traced back to them.

Get onto your Bank and talk to someone there, Im sure they will have a Fraud department of some kind.

Just as a matter of interest have you used your card in a Hole in the wall you dont normally use , because some of them have hidden cameras and magnetised fronts that read the strip on your card.

I bank with Lloyds and spoke to their fraud department as soon as I spotted it. They have said that there will be no problems, the money will be refunded, all I need to do is speak to my bank regarding charges as this has caused the account to be overdrawn. I always thought i'd been careful, loads of internet security for online shopping etc, this has really given me a shake up! I don't check my bank statements probably as regularly as I should, thank god I did today!! It's just the hassle because I've had to put a stop on my debit card etc, just in the week I have somebody coming to repair my flat roof over my garage (struck up a cash deal!!) I'm just glad I spotted it before it got any worse!!

Good job you did... :huggles: I must admit it wasnt us that spotted ours...it was Barclays (due to the high number of internet payments all of a sudden) and they rang us...and I wouldnt give them details as I wasnt sure it was a genuine phonecall (w00t)

so I went into my local Barclays and they checked the number and said yes it was genuine so I called back and apologised.. :b

Im glad you will get your money back, but it is a worrying trend now... :(

My OH card was cloned at a petrol station too last year, 500 pound was drawn out form overseas   Alot of other peeps were 'done' too by the same station!!!!!!! It was all recovered within a few days

How horrible for you Lal - I had a similar thing through Amazon a while back - would never use Amazon again once I realised how unreliable they are, they managed to give me the bills for three others with the same surname - I never knew if it was fraud or just Amazons inefficiency - but they never sorted it :(

Well it was only by pure chance that I checked the balance, but it is going to make me a lot more wary about my internet shopping, although I've alwyas shopped with reputable agents online. Just has scared the hell out of me thinking what might have happened had I not spotted it.

That is interesting because I use Amazon quite a lot, although I haven't used it recently!

most shops and petrol station and that now try not to take your card from you and get you to put it inn the machine, so i think i would be more worried about the cash lines. i try my hardest not to give people my card now and just go ahead and put it in the pin thing myself,

i was also told by the bank to only use my credit card for the internet shopping as there was cover on that if anything did happen but not with the debit one.

i do loads of internet shopping and i havent had a problem YET!! but there are people everywhere trying to scam somthing so you can never be 2 carefull.

and in my personal opinion ebay/paypal is one of the worst places to be done, wev lost out on a few hundred pound through ebay and paypal, with buyer and sellers up to no good

so glad you are covered to get the money back :huggles:
