Bbc Pulls Out Of Crufts

ohh my god what will Peter Pervert and the other upper class twot (Ben Bugle) do now it had to come how could they show the GSD class full of mutants that sh@t for brains show breeders have reduced to shambling freaks, i see it as a positive move i wonder how it will affect revenue though carnt see the overseas exhibitor coming over if their not gonna get on telly :- "

If all people go to Crufts to get on TV, they must be very disappointed, because so few people actually make it on there.

Being rude about pedigree dog breeders is very negative. I agree about the current GSD that is being show, they need to address the problems they have.

There are some good GSD breeders who follow the so called English type, time they started being placed at shows.

There is a breed standard for them, it just depends on how people perceive it.

The BBC's loss not the KC's. I am glad the KC haven't given in to the demands of the BBC

I fully agree  ....Now its really about time the KC actually did something positive for pedigree dogs instead of just rewording a few breed standards and thinking thats good enough ....Theres sooooo many real problems in most pedigree breeds that its about time the KC sat down and did a real shake up ...Just my personal opinion though ... :- "

i think that has been the KC mantra for many years shame someone didnt take these idiots to one side and explain the reason why some some of these breed standards exsist i wonder who can guess from what breed standard this is taken from -

"Tenacious hound of ancient lineage which hunts by scent, possessing a pack instinct, a deep melodious voice and capable of great endurance in the field".

the next sentence should read " feel free to take centuries of carefull breeding to produce a dog capable of performing its duty and for the sake of a rosette turn it into a cartoon character just about able to walk from the carpark to the show ring and with enough skin to cover 2 dogs and whos oustanding talent is slavering

Hold on there!!

My grandad is one of the best if not "the best" GSD breeder in the UK. He introduced the hip scoring, the Xrays, Blood tests etc and tried to introduce it in the 50's when he saw what was happening to the breed and the stupid KC thought there wasnt any need for any "tests" done on breeding animals (obviously introduced it too late now) - Yes many GSD have got terrible hips etc. But by no means do most of the "show type GSD's" have """Sh@t for brains". Its the people breeding GSD's that have Sh@t for brains not knowing what they are breeding, whether its a show dog (english or germanic lines), scrap yard dog, or schutshund bred dog.

my most recent pup is the brightest puppy i have ever owned, the quickest learner, and a dream to own.

Please do not tar every GSD show breeder with the same brush!

That has to be the Basset. I remember Bassets even from my own childhood being fit looking, sporting dogs, absolutely nothing like some of the the wrinkled drooping Bassets we see nowadays.

There seems a tendency across so many breeds to take the characteristics that make the breed unique, and which have usually been developed for a reason, then exaggerate them to the point where they become a danger to the dog's well-being rather than a working advantage.

The KC has to take some of the blame for this. They need to tighten up the breed standards to put much more emphasis on the dog's general health and ability to do the job it was bred for into account. Dogs that are no longer 'fit for purpose' shouldn't be winning shows!
