Um is it me or is it getting a bit soppy on here. :- "

Guilt is an interesting thing isn't it. I've found that there is never the right time for me to have one of my dogs pts. On occasion I've felt that I did it too soon. You know that feeling. Maybe if I'd held off another day my 17.5 years old would have been eating again and acting like a puppy. I've also done it too late and made a much loved dog suffer because I selfishly couldn't bear to let him go.

All we can do is remember them with love and shed many, many tears.

One thing about this list is that there many people who understand what your beloved dog means to you. How many times have we all shed tears about the loss of another dog and the clear grief of an owner who loves their dog just like we do.

Definitely!! (w00t)

Right so when do you think is the best time to get another whistling.gif

I think 2 of the same age are great as they are nicely ballanced and less likely to hurt each other, if you do not want to cope with 2 pups then i would wait until the first one is calmer and wiser and knows not to get too rough with the puppy. But even then i would not leave a little baby (less than 12 weeks) alone with the grownup one.

My dog Jack had a stiff neck and blood shot eye.Vet said he fine ,that was the Saturday,by Sunday Jack was no longer with us.He was 18 months. Had a brain haemo...the blood shot was the tell tale sign...I honestly believe had I gone to another vet,and followed my instinct, things could have been a whole lot different.
Hiya Jax, it's no compensation to you I know but the bloodshot eye could of indicated so many different things, I imagine most vets would of put it down to a trauma to the eye. ( I'm presuming the seizures occured close to the end) Nothing you could of done would of changed the outcome, please take comfort in the fact you did the best for Jack.

Hi Jac, am so sorry about the loss of your Jack. Please don't torment yourself over it, you did the best for him. We lost Tesa through a seizure probably cause by her bloodshot eye. She had jumped up onto the bed at the same time as me and her head had collided with my chin. It burst all the blood vessels in her eye. We had her to the vets twice in a week and then on to an eye specialist. She then went on to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. She was in the best of care, but it didn't make any difference :(
