I am sitting posting this with tears running down my face.

We have just got back from the vets having had my gorgeous old gsd Beethoven pts his back legs went very suddenly last night

I rang the vet this morning hoping that there would be something he could do to help him but at the back of my mind knowing it would be the last thing we would do for him. So this afternoon my OH and I carefully lifted him into my car for the last time. Pat the vet was waiting for us and asked how bad he was he was amazed because when he last saw him at Christmas he was like young puppy. The vet had always said when he went it would be sudden and he would be a big daft dog untill the day he died. How true this was as had had been happily playing with Toby only a few hours before his legs went

He was called Beethoven because he was a big slobbery dog not at all a guard dog although the whippets were his babies and he would do anything to protect them or my family

What makes it worse is it is exactly 10 years today since we had him as a 6 month old pup and it is my son Ben's birthday tomorrow
