I watched the whippet classes at this show and also the NI whippet club ch specialty show the following day. I would like very much to read the critiques, so if you see them in the dog papers, please let us know the date asap.

(And perhaps someone will be willing to cut out or photocopy the relevant critiques to sent to me? though if I get the info in time I may be able to buy the Dog World or Our Dogs at a local shop -- which doesn't stock Irish Show Dogs, however. I'm not interested enough to subscribe to these papers or buy them every week ....)

Whippets

I was delighted to have the largest hound entry of the day. However I was disappointed to find that so many hounds that looked very promising when stacked did not move with true forward reaching action & with propulsion from the rear. General condition & presentation was excellant.

PD 1 Peperone Pure Gold, well matured with excellent ribbing & depth of brisket, good outline with sound hind angulation, true sound mover. As a puppy I felt that he was big enough but as he is within a few days of adulthood he seemed to be fully grown. BP; 2 Spinnyhill Shiraz, very promising one who took my eye, liked his body proportions, in excellent firm condition, pleasing topline when moving but inclined to cut away when stacked. Hopefully this will firm up with maturity; 3 Mossbawnhill Better Son. JD 1 Demerlay Rythmnblues, sound well balanced dog with gentle flowing outline, good front, bone & feet, firm correctly angulated quarters; 2 Collooney That's The One, finer built, pleasing reach of neck, true front assembly, sound stifle & firm hocks. Just needs to mature a little more; 3 Rottzridge Hassel Free. PGD 1 Crosscop Brilliant Thats Me, the best mover in the class, pleasing skull & eye, correct flowing topline, well muscled, not exagerated in any way; 2 Colloney One Cool Guy, standing he covered the ground very well, good body shape, pleasing depth of brisket, good hind angulation; 3 Ringmore Code Of Conduct. LD 1 Collooney Classic Gold, very nice make & shape, clean neck let into good shoulder placement, sound flowing topline, correct well let down hocks. Surprised that he did not move better; 2 Wrennalla Just A Bit More, well built boy, correct body, topline & strong loin. Disappointed on the move; 3 Whisterfield Jack The Lad among Silkdance. OD 1 Ch Gilnockie Attitude, beautifully balanced dog with all the attributes asked in the Standard, excellent head, expression & dark eye, reachy neck let into well placed shoulders, sound front, deep chest with heart room, correct body proportions, firm well angulated hindquarters, flowing lines from nose to tail, moved with correct forward reaching stride. CC, BOB & G4; 2 Ch/Aus Ch Peperone Solid Gold, high quality representative of the breed, very worthy champion, 1 just had that bit more sparkle; 3 Scarletfair One Knight.

PB 1 Collooney Tainted Love, really sweet girl, has body type & outline, nicely angulaated with a good second thigh, moved very well. Pushed very hard for BP but in the challenge she just lost concentration on the job in hand; 2 Mossbawnhill Smooth As Silk, shapely dark brindle of good construction, correct flowing lines, excellent depth for age, sound hind angulation, in very good condition; 3 Badger's Fable of Bruntsfield. JB 1 Peperone Pieris, good head & expression, reachy neck, clean shoulders, sound front construction, mature body, good tuck-up & rear angulation; 2 Demerlay Alwaysnforeveer, r/f, well bodied & covers the ground well standing, liked her depth of brisket, tuck-up & rearquarters; 3 Talaria Bianca of Bruntsfield. PGB 1 Windsdream White Linnen, this girl showed the others in the class how to move. Very feminine, built on clean classical lines; 2 Gorewater Caeli of Bruntsfield, gleaming black in super muscular condition, just the right amount of bone, well placed shoulders & hind angulation. Thought that she would be my winner but was not so outgoing on the move; 3 Palmik Midnight Mischief. LB 1 Demerlay Vivace, strongly made pale fawn who excels in depth of brisket, good heartroom, loin & firm hindquarters; 2 Scarletfair Secret Star over Windsdream, lighter built bitch but of very pleasing make & shape, stood over the ground well without being over stretched; 3 Cornstalk Magic Light. OB 1 Ch Demerlay Love In A Mist, most delightful fawn, sweet expression, dark eye of correct shape, pleasing reach of neck let into excellent shoulders, good forechest, well ribbed deep chest, good tuck & sound loin, firm angulated hindquarters with no exageration, really beautiful bitch, moved well. CC In the challenge for BOB the dog just put that bit more into the proceedings; 2 Triken Sweet Dreams, classy f/w with excellent clean flowing lines, you can appreciate her more when you have your hands on. Moved with purpose which was made possible by her good body construction. RCC; 3 Ch/IrCh Collooney Golden Girl of Sheol.
