Bella is a sweetheart. I never cease to admire dogs, that they can continue to trust after what they have been through.

The headshot sums her up perfectly. I have lived with eyes like those before once or twice and they have belonged to dogs that I know for a fact have been through hell.

Strangely enough, they too belonged to people who should be banned from keeping dogs if not through cruelty, at least through ignorance. Desperate for love and so affectionate but behind the facade, very frightened. Bella is just a little too eager to please :( . There is another girl in there that will emerge with time ;) . I do not think she has been beaten or badly neglected but it is becoming apparent that she is frightened of loud noises and shouting (we had some drunks pass the house last night). She does not know what a toy is for and looks at Toddy who keeps offering them to her as if he is nuts with no understanding of what they are for.

She is a complete couch potato and is already trying to push the ohers away for extra affection. Needless to say, I have to start as I mean to go on and do not allow it. I went out for an hour today and left her with the oldies shutting Lilly and Toddy away (precaution). I was relieved when I got back that she was more interested in greeting 'her pack' first than greeting me.

Bella is just amazing, hopefully, some of you may get to know her in person as time goes by

sounds like shes a real sweetie eve, cant wait to meet her, hugs to your gang xxx :huggles:

Yes, there is great sadness in those beautiful eyes, isn't there? Such a beautiful girl  Truly 'Bella'.

What you say about her reminds me of my lovely Taff, a rescue border collie who lived with me for nearly 12 years. He was always desperate for affection, and would lie down in the middle of the road waiting for complete strangers to pay attention to him. He never passed up the opportunity for a cuddle, and while it was very touching it was as though his need for love was a bottomless pit. Gone but never forgotten. And he was frightened of bangs too, maybe from the road traffic accident he had before he was taken to Blue Cross.

I hope she gives you as much love and joy as Taff did me, these dogs find a very special place in our hearts.

She is really going to blossom now

Beautiful beautiful Bella. I could cry thinking about what might have been. Bless you Eve for giving this darling girl love and security. x

If only we knew what they were thinking or maybe sometimes it is better not knowing :( She is such a gorgeous girl    So glad you have found each other :huggles: She certainly can now look forward to a happy future with you and your family

Those Eyes... that face would melt your heart....

she has the most gentle expression.......Bless you Eve...for showing her kindness and love. :huggles: :flowers:

 Hopefully, with your love and care, Bella's eyes will begin to sparkle with happiness, they are very beautiful eyes but with that hint of sadness about them bless her. I'm sure that in time she will learn what toys are for, and maybe other things that she has missed out on. No doubt from your description of her she will thrive on your affection :luck: :luck: to you and to Beautiful Bella

She is beautiful - and it won't be long before she loses that worried look and starts to understand she's home forever now

I agree wholeheartedly about the eyes, Pip had them and also the 'too eager to please', which I found the most heartbreaking because I wanted to make her understand that she didn't have to try so hard, we loved her the way she was . If anybody raised their voice, Pip used to get as far down onto her belly as possible and slink quietly away to a corner trying to make herself invisible and if my OH raised his voice (rarely), she would quake as she was terrified of men. Bella will settle and realise that she is safe but thank God you have her.

A PS to my post - I'd love to be near enough you to meet Bella (and the others) but a tad too far I think.

She is so beautiful. She will go from strength to strength now she is with you. Good luck with everything and please keep us posted on her progress.

How wonderful to hear that Bella has settled in so well, well done to you for giving her a home. She sounds such a lovely girl and is gorgeous looking too

AW, isn't she gorgeous  and that melancholy look certainly tugs at the heart strings. I'm so glad she's settling so well in her new home with you and your gang and I'm sure she will soon realise that life can be fun and relaxed and full of love :)
