I paid a visit to Cardiff last weekend to visit my parents, timing it to coincide with my brother and his family visiting from London, so had a lovely weekend. I left the whippets at home so had to make do with photographing other things! :- "

I met up with an old friend and we went off to one of the many parks in Cardiff. I remember going here on a Sunday afternoon, boating on the lake and eating ice creams. :) It's a lovely spot. First up are the ducks and geese.

A view of the lake with the lighthouse which commemorates Captain Scott's journey to the Antarctic which set off from Cardiff.

We then spent ages sitting on the edge of the lake watching the swans. They're really tame (children feed them a lot!). It's only when you sit down and study them for a long time close up that you really appreciate how beautiful and elegant they are.

I love the black swans. :)

I was a bit worried that this sheep was too near the edge of the cliff and would fall off! (w00t)

And one last photo of my brother's dog, Maggie. We had to leave her behind as the beach didn't allow dogs.

I've got a Canon 400 (SLR) like a number of people on here. I've been very pleased with it since I got it last year.

Fantastic pics as always. The flowers are beautiful and I love the black swans with the red bills.

Fancy having a beach that doesn't allow dogs :( ours are just certain bits of it where the visitors go.

I think it's quite common to ban dogs on beaches in the summer months. They are allowed October to April. It looks a big beach on the photos but I don't think it would be a very easy beach to segregate.

It is a lovely beach although because it's on the Bristol Channel the water is a bit murky! It's a very popular surfing beach and is about 40 minutes from Cardiff. There are loads of rock pools as well for the children to explore. No nasty amusements, just a toilet and a little shop selling ice creams. :)
