These three dogs have just been listed on the Oldies Club site. They have spent the last 5-6 years since they retired from racing in a kennel in a remote field with no heat or light, and only visited once a day to be fed. They were kennelled separately, so didn't even have on another for company :(

As water had to be carried to the kennels the owner has decided to hand them into rescue rather than keep them for another winter. At least they are now in warmth with company and a chance to find homes of their own to retire to.

God bless them!!!! I'm just not in the mind frame atm to find words to describe my feelings for people who USE dogs then discard them, if I wasn't in the middle of a messy divorce/lived in a bigger house etc etc then there would be a sofa here! Just makes me so sad. :(

I must admit these three have really got to me. Am repeating regularly "I can NOT afford six dogs........"

I hadn't realised when I first posted that only Black-Dog has ever raced. The other two have been living in this situation their whole lives :(

When you think of the pampered lives our dogs live, for these poor dogs to have endured this is just unbearable to think about :(

I hope they find lovely homes to end their days :luck:

My heart weeps for these dogs. I don't get why anyone would keep them like this. Sometimes I get so disgusted. But then I can't help 'em. I don't know what that makes me but it's not good enough I know that.

I'll ask around to see if I can find someone better than me.

Honest; is what i think it makes you BeeJay. :huggles:

Stories like these touch us all, but none of us can take in every dog that is crying out for a home.

I also wish them all the best and hope that someone who does have the space, the time and the love to offer hears about them very soon

Fee, if the only thing stopping you taking these dogs is lack of money ill set up a monthly donation to help with all costs for them.im sure others on here will donate too. :huggles:

Kris, that's an incredibly generous offer, but I'm afraid it isn't something I could accept. Thank you anyway, I know you're thinking of the good of the dogs and it's really, really kind of you :luck:

I'm trying to persuade my family to agree we could take one of them as a foster if the rescue would let us. They aren't keen at the moment, our fostering record isn't good (as in none of the dogs have ever left :b ) so I think my OH suspects it's a sneaky way to smuggle in another permanent. I, of course, would never be that underhand :- "

Of course you would NEVER be that underhand, perish the thought

Especially as it may only be for such a short time anyway :- "

However, if that underhand thingy does get the better of you, i'm happy to donate with Kris for any of them

Oh the temptation - I would so love to offer Winnie a home, as we've always said we'd like a second greyhound, and a female as a companion for Skipper. However, we've been told by a dog trainer that we should wait another 6 months to make sure Skipper is totally settled, and to carry on his training to stop him barking at other dogs. :(

I hope they all find the lovely homes they deserve soon...

lol!Fee, i know just what you mean! o:) i thought this was so funny!however if you do foster any of these id be quite happy to help towards their upkeep as i guess at their age they will need vet care etc etc.and if youre kind enought to help them out then youd be also helping me out by letting me donate something towards their upkeep, which would make me feel better as its a way of helping them. :D sometimes we cant offer time or a home but money is something thats always useful to have ;)

Sadly we facing some changes to our circumstances after Christmas which means we aren't in a position to offer a foster home to one of these three after all.

I'm gutted, I had spoken to the rescue about Black-dog, he sounds lovely and is mixing happily with other dogs, I'm sure he would have fitted in here. :( :(

He's had most of his teeth out and is quite wobbly on his legs, poor old thing, all he needs is a comfy bed and a bit of love. I so hope someone else comes forward for him and the other two.

Another thank you to those who offered to donate. These dogs are being cared for by Swiss Valley Rescue, who are a small rescue and who have had to fund some pretty major vet treatment for the three of them, so if anyone does want to help I'm sure they would be very grateful for a donation.
