:( This is just awful, those poor poor people.

Makes you think doesn't it. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well most of us.

Hope the injured people are going to be ok.

Just caught up with this. How terrifying for those poor people up there, I do hope all is now well. It was very, very windy yesterday down here.

Well what a nightmare. I hope all the exhibitors are Ok. From a show point of all, it must be a real problem sorting out, I do not envy them that task.

:( :x

This is appalling, it must have been a terrifying experience, my heart goes out to the poor chef who sustained the terrible burns. I can only presume that questions are being asked about why the show was allowed to go ahead in the first place on that day. The very high winds had been forcast for several days in advance for that day, and that specific part of the country.

I would be very interested to know what the protocols are in an instance like this. One likes to think that safety comes first. When is a decision taken to go ahead? Who makes it, is the met office consulted? Do the committee talk to the insurers? I am very curious to know.

Earlier this year the first day of the Cheltenham festival was called off for similar reasons. ie: the safety of the tented village for winds of a similar velocity! That must have been commercial suicide for the racecourse.

No doubt we will find out the answers in due course.

Am I correct in remembering something similar happening at Leicester CH show a few years back?

Cathie

I recall something about Leicester Ch show and them losing their CC allocation. BUT this is more than a 'few' years ago Cathie. Must be about 20 years now.

Oooo, reading that has made me go cold, how terrifying :(

Hope all end up ok :luck:

What an absolutely horrifying experience.

Here in the US, where we have tornadoes, hurricanes, blizzards, floods, etc. it is not rare to see a show or other dog event canceled due to dangerous weather conditions. And there will always be people who complain about it! They should read these accounts and then they will know why getting everyone out of there is the best thing to do.

Weather has been freaky over here, too. We have massive flooding in some of our central states right now.

My heart goes out to all who were affected by the Blackpool windstorm. I hope the poor man who was burned will not be too badly disabled.
