Might be going to view a blue girl at the w/e- any top tips on what I should be looking for?

I'm new to the world of whippets { have a collie/lab x age 5 and cocker spaniel age 2 }.

Having to travel quite a long way.

Don't suppose anyone knows of any pups in the Manchester/Lancs/Yorks area??

Hi Bunty, I'm a new member too & have'nt replied to anything before, but thought I would give it a go!

It depends on what you want your whippet for ie:Show, work or just a pet as the criteria is slightly different for each.

There are always quite a few Whippet pups advertised on epupz that might be in the area you are looking for.

There was also a litter in Grimsby that has been mentioned in a previous thread(Breeders. Is this normal?), that should have blue pups.

You could also check out the kennel club website under puppy sales although they don't tell you the colours of the pups, just the areas.

Hope this helps.

Thankyou for the replies.

I'm not very good at this and can't imagine ever getting the hang of posting smilies let alone photos!!!

I got a reply from someone on epupz earlier, but they are even further away. I think I'll stick with my original plan and go and see these blue girls on Saturday.

Can't wait- I've always liked whippets...I'm quite partial to the fawns, but we saw a smokey grey/blue the other week and my husband thought it was gorg.

Just hope it WAS a blue we saw. I don't have a great deal of knowledge in whippet colouring, apart from anything goes!!

Hello to you 05 whippet.

Hope your whippet pup is delighting you!

Not sure if any of these pups are left, see the thread I posted after picking up my Lola here: pups available they are near Manchester (Uppermill) if there are any left

Sorry 05 whippet- you didn't say you have a pup!

You see I am rubbish at this!

We just want a loving, loyal family pet who will fit in with our other 2 girls.

That's fine Bunty, we all have to learn & start somewhere me too!!

I have 5 whippets, 2 Collooney, we live in N. Ireland 2 pups kept from one of the Colloney bitches litter out of Airescot Bob Fest, and a Coursing Whippet out of a dog called Sudden Death.

We are relatively new to the show scene too, but have been lucky enough with our first litter that they have all gone to show homes mostly on the Mainland.

Anyway whatever whippet you end up with I'm sure it will give you oodles of pleasure as ours do us!

Hi, Welcome to K9.

I believe there might be a blue parti bitch still available from a Laguna/Parkstone litter, I think they are based in the Midlands somewhere. I'd be tempted myself if circumstances were different.

blue and white pups

They make wonderful companions, are extremely clean in the house & usuakky get on with other dogs no problem. You would be looking for the same signs in the pup as you would with any other Breed:Healthy, bright eyed pups with no obvious defects,dew-claw removal is very personal as some people swear they're useful &others say they should be removed_personally I would be inclined to remove them, but I don't feel it is a huge issue as long as the pup is reasonably outgoing and looks good to your eye I don't think you can go too far wrong for a pet.Ideally if you can get to see both parents thatwould be great as that gives you a rough idea what the pup will turn out like(though no guarantee).

Finally go on your gut instinct in my opinion it's always right!

All the best for your new family member 05 whippet

Hi Helen,

Will keep trying

Sorry Tracy

he is nice though isn't he? I think i've done well to find 8 really good homes so far. I had to refuse three people who i considered not suitable to own a dog. I will keep boris for as long as it takes to find him a good home. He can play with his sister Tilly ( the one i'm keeping) until then.
