as I was sitting on the floor outside the whelping box watching the puppies
wake up and decide it was time for an evening snack I remembered something
I observed on other litters - some of the puppies insist on being bottom feeders -
it does seem that I have seen this behavior before - and I am wondering whether
or not it is something that might be inherited - it doesnt seem to matter about
size or sex because we have one little one and one big one - one of which is
male and one of which is female - the top feeders are all completely satisfied
with whichever top faucet that they attach themselves to - the bottom feeders
however seem to prefer the hardest to get to and will squirm and dig and
push until they have just the right one - perhaps it is ingrained so completely
that they are unable to make it to the top tier - I really dont think that that is
the case for it is much harder to dig under the top feeders and push mama over
a bit to get to the desired end - maybe the milk bar is more abundant on the
bottom - maybe the milk is sweeter if one has to work a little harder to get to it ...
wondering if the bottom feeders will have the attitude of "I can do anything"
when they grow up - maybe the top feeders will be able to do most anything
as long as its easy!!...will the bottom feeders grow up to be bigger and or
stronger - will they display the determination to do later in life - I have drawn
no conclusions from these thoughts - just some musings of a mad man........
