Breed Of Dog?

Today me and my sister went a walk. We walked along a back road between 2 towns that is at the bottom of some hills. My mum dropped us off at one town and was going to get us at the next. When we arrived we hear alot of barking, at first I thought it was maybe the farmers sheep dogs, at a closer look we realised it wasn't, it was 2 dogs in a field with cows but barking at this one sheet through the fence, the sheep didn't move I think it was quite frightened. We kept on walking not sure if they belonged to the farmer or were someone elses, we rushed on as I know a farmer has the right to shoot any dog distressing their livestock.

We were almost at the next town (still no busy roads, and still in part of the country side) at the end of this path, there is someone who I think owns kennels and has a bit of a field, I was too busy looking at their dogs in the field that I never noticed these two dogs from the beginning of walk were just standing behind us. I have to admit I got a bit of a fright. One of them came up to Penny, at first I thought it was going to go for her as it came right to her neck and face, luckily it only licked her and nudged her a bit and the other never came anywhere near.

They kept on following us, I was getting worried as I didn't want to lead them to a road. I was going to try and get them up to the man with kennels and what he thought, they ended up just running up in that direction anyway.

Anyway after that long story, I was really wondering if anyone had an idea of what breed of dog they were or what type of crosses. I thought they looked so like wolves, even part of their behavious was wolf like. I got a few pics on phone but they kept on moving so a bit blurred. Ive seen some dogs offered as wolf like, maybe its one of those.

A few months ago when I was in that town, I had saw someone with 2 puppies that looked exactly like these dogs and I remember thinking at the time what unusual dogs. I feel really bad for them, they didn't have collars and one had a bit of blood on its leg. There was nothing we could really do though. Heres the pics anyway. Sorry for long story, I find it hard to shorten things like that down :- "

they look like utonagon dogs which are a wolf hybrid i think sorry i couldnt get the pic any bigger

Its stange Ive just posted about Husky racing in Aviemore...perhaps they got lost in the forest and wandered off..

Another similar breed is a malamute ...not sure ifs thats how you spell it but they are large husky types...

THEY LOOK LIKE A NORTHERN INNUET TO ME BUT ALL THE HUSKY / MALAMUTE TYPES AND CROSSES VARY SO MUCH IT COULD BE A COMBINATION OF ANY OF THOSE BREEDS AND EVEN A TOUCH OF GSD IN THERE , ITS HARD TO SAY IF THEY ARE PEDIGREE OR NOT BECAUSE OF THE VARIATION :thumbsup:

malamutes are a much bigger stockier dog than a husky or inuit dog.they could be a wolf cross or a husky cross as they look of that type being leaner and more racey looking or they could even have malamute breeding in them but tbh i think theyre more likely to be husky/wolf crosses

Yes have to agree ...We have a Northern Intuit board with us ...She looks just like them

could be a Shiloh Shepherd x husky, i've seen a few that look just like them :thumbsup:

A friend has malamutes they are a lot bigger and much stockier than those in the photos and also have much bigger heads

I'd say they were Utonagens too, there is one that comes into our park, a lovely looking dog but a bit unpredictable with other male dogs.

It must have been a bit worrying having them follow you like that. I hope they got home ok.

If they are running loose with no collars on I suggest you contact your local dog warden as soon as possible - particularly if they are around livestock and even more so if one is injured. They may be strays or have been dumped and need help.

If they do belong to someone the dog warden would probably want to have a 'chat' about them being left to roam with no ID.

FeeFee you took the words straight out of my pc......The warden or the RSPCA really do need to be notified about this......it`s a bit worrying if wounded, collarless dogs are roaming about, following people (especially in this weather) ...poor things.

Thanks for then input, alot of the breeds you all suggested looked like them, its difficult to tellas alot of have different markings. Unfortunately we don't have an RSPCA here, and our nearest SSPCAhas closed. We heard that the man at the kennels was going to make enquiries since he will have contact with dog warden. The next time my mum is in that town I will ask if he has heard any further. I didn't want to try and catch them incase they did turn aggresive.

Its sad, I think there are alot of people that just let their dogs out to roam, as they always come home, not thinking they could get seriously hurt or hurt anything else.

I just felt very sorry for them out alone with no collars. I was a bit worried as I am with alot of dogs that don't have owners with them. I was more worried that they would have went for Penny.
