Some clever person thought they'd string some barbed wire across a public footpath at "dog height" just to be helpful.

My dog Bryn was merrily running along and didn't quite make it under the wire.

Forty stitches later......

picture quality is bad sorry, taken by father in law.

the wire opened up a large hole in his back but had to be stitched side to side as there was more stretch in his skin that way.Quite a lot of body tissue from under the skin had to be removed where the wire caught it.

Just remember folks, not everyone likes us walking our dogs along public footpaths.

That is awful...

Hope hes ok, sending him lots of :huggles:

That's terrible  I do hope you have reported this to the police.

Hugs to poor Bryn :huggles:

So sorry to see that, poor dog didn`t deserve that, hope he heals soon and i`m sure the plenty of tlc you plan to give him will help.Absolute Scum who set that up.

Poor boy :( Get well soon Bryn :huggles: :luck: :luck:

I really do wish that somebody somewhere would stop the use of barbed wire. Having seen barbed wire injuries up close it makes me go cold.

I hope you poor little dog is better real soon. :luck:

:( Poor Bryn. I hope he's soon feeling better :luck: :huggles:

This is the second time this has happened to one of our dogs but by far the worst.

we are not going to walk that footpath again,it has been reported.

He's a sweet dog with a dreadful fear of having a "buster"collar on and panics if you try to make him wear the bucket....unfortunately it's necessary as he will happily remove his stitches given half a chance.

we've previously had to have him re-stitched three times for unpicking his stitches lol

these occasions are also the only time i use a dog crate...the other whippets would happily remove his stitches too

Oh I feel quite queasy at the thought................I always cringe if we are near barbed wire, we've been lucky so far, but that is just dreadful. Poor Bryn, what a nasty wound :x Hope he feels better soon  :huggles:

christ, thats a bad'un :( bloody hate barbed wire  sending lots of :huggles:

and lots of :luck: for a speedy recovery.

:( Oh, that is horrible. Poor, poor Bryn.

Will he put up with wearing a t-shirt do you think? Josie had an injury recently and she wore a t-shirt for 3 weeks (not the same one, I hasten to add!!). She didn't like it, but it did stop her re-opening the wound.

Good scar prevention action: as the wound starts to heal, massage the area with a little rosehip seed oil. It's fantastic at scar prevention, even better than vit E or wheatgerm. A friend of mine recently had a skin graft and used it, and the dermatology consultant was bowled over by the result. He'd said she'd have a scar for 2 years before fading began, but within 4 months the graft was virtually invisible to the naked eye! Don't know what it is about rosehip, but it's miraculous stuff  I got mine here at a very reasonable £7 with no p&p:http://www.beautynaturals.com/facial/colle.../rosehipoil.asp

Good luck. Let us know how things go :luck:

Poor Bryn  So sorry that he has gone through this :(

Helen's advice is very good, the t-shirt trick can be a godsend

Thanks Helen for the advice re rosehip, I shall be getting some of that too :D

What an awful story. Poor Bryn and poor you. I HATE barbed wire. I have had a horse lacerated by it. It should be BANNED.

Oh no hun...big hugs for Bryn...hope hes ok soon :huggles:

OMG how horrible for you and you baby...

What the hell were they thinking,

I hope he gets better soon... :huggles:
