You may want to add Potassium Nitrate to your first aid kit as well. It is Purple crystal and a powerfull antiseptic and stops bleeding as well. The vets use a solution of this and it turns brown when water is added.

Just to state the obvious, NEVER leave this in easy reach of your kids or pets

I don't know if it is any good, but I have heard if you accidently cut the nail too short, you can use a match to stop the bleeding. Just rip it, let it burn a very short time and stick the hot end on the bleeding bit. Have anyone heard of this before?

Ohhhh the pain, im clenching my bum cheeks here

:teehee: I didn't say BURN THE NAIL!! :p Just put the hot match on quickly to seal the bleeding bit..... I think that hurt a lot less than to clip to short.... Must smell awful, though...

Ive just ordered some styptic drops solution from www. hyperdrug to add to my doggy first aid kit. I love this site for doggy first aid. this item is right at the bottom of the page.
