I wouldn't worry to much the nwrf have other places in the pipe lines, and i am sure the bwra has ...

Looking at tracks that could handle this eventI am sure that all the reasons will be known at the agm i don't think k9 is the place for this to be discussed
I have been trying to get people from Scotland to attend the AGM for a few years now but people are not that keen to go as using this topic for an example and I am assuming that the list of willing clubs to host the championships will be put to the vote at the AGM and what chance does the Scottish region have of having a realistic say in the vote as in my opinion most people will vote on the amount of miles they will have to travel not the venue. And as I am not willing to spend that much on petrol just to find out the real reason (if what has been said is true) we have been told that we cannot hold the championships at Asfordby I can only hope that the editor of WN has the space in the issue after the AGM to go into full detail then again there is always the jungle drums but we all know how reliable they are after a few bits have been added on. Its a real shame we cannot find out the reason on K9 I hear what you are saying this is not the place but then again it is not the place for a lot of things that are being posted on here.
I hope we do get several places maybe on rotation as if it goes to just one track as I fear it might (nothing against that track as they would deserve the credit for hosting an event like the championships) I don't think it would be feasable for anybody in Scotland to any further south than Asfordby twice a year, year in year out for a weekend event (or even once a year for that matter) look what happened when the NWRF took their Straight Championships to Seaham numbers fell because it was said to be too far north. If it goes the way I fear I for one will consider not joining any of the two main bodies next year and just race at my club after all I joined the NWRF for years for one race in May (Straight Championships) because all their other opens were too far south and why join if the Championships are taken away. In the short term the sport might be able to loose the Scottish members but in the long term some of the racers in the north east might think again when they have a taste of the long drives towing a caravan year in year out. But wherever the championships go respect the club and the land owners or you might just run out of venues before members.Be fore anyone mentions newton aycliffe gaz has spoken to Alan Cortney and he has expressed how much work goes into the organizing of the derby, and i dont think they would have another major event there.
LOL you knew what I was hinting at then never mind it was worth a try but I have to say it's still the best all round venue I have been at.
My opinion that if all the major camping events were took to one place again then the organizers would get sick as, as happened in the past, just look seaham the old nwrf jumped on there then got £1000 sponsorship from then, also Melton the nwrf followed the bwra, a few years down the line its all gone.
I think that if we could find 2 or 3 different places for the major events it would be variety..

Hi Denise, one of the main reason that the BWRA AGM is late in the year is because Muriel (BWRA TREASURER ) can only get the accounts made up at the end of each year so it would be a problem for her to bring it forward, but again this is something that can be discussed at the AGM. I did suggest to her having it in August but the reason she gave that it wasn't a viable option is as I have stated above. If something can be worked out maybe the AGM could be held on the friday evening when the majority of peiople have arrived for the championships ( assuming we manage to get a venue for next year )DENISE BAILEY said:I would have to agree the straight champs should be kept middle of the country to be far on the people from far north and far south. I to have wanted to attend agm's before but found we had better things to spend our money on rather than petrol especially when they are so later in the year, i suggested that the agm should some how be whiles a camping weekend was on that way most people are there and able to attend it... the only problem with that is the amount of work that committees have to do over weekend events.
I am sure that the editor of the WN will do her best we could always film it lol
hi john ,this could be a short term solution but it would take a lot of the fun we are used to away, and i think maybe a step back but if we need to do that then so beit. philjohn m said:With the amount of dogs and bitches that have entered the championships in recent years both Dog and Bitch championships could be run off in a day, and bringing pre-entry back in again may help this.
phil said:sad loss asforby was a great venue ,if there is a hidden agenda behind this decision and the b.w.r.a. know about and dont want to air on k9 they should letter the membership immediately because this puts a bad smell on us all. i for one dont want to wait until jan/feb to find out these hidden details we should know immediately so as the full membership can respond to it at the a.g.m. if there is know hidden agenda surely the b.w.r.a. could makea satement which would put an end to this discussion. phil
hi doreen, phil here i am not questioning your honesty or ability , i think you do a thankless job very well, i also accept if you say you have given all the facts given to you by asfordby sports club i dont have a problem with that . 1 thing i do have a problem with which is definately not directed at you is the rumours or unofficial complaints that are driving this discussion/topic if there is something we should be told ,there is no smoke without fire: but if someone is leading this discussion to cause a problem within our body they need to get a life. philDoreen Hopkins said:phil said:sad loss asforby was a great venue ,if there is a hidden agenda behind this decision and the b.w.r.a. know about and dont want to air on k9 they should letter the membership immediately because this puts a bad smell on us all. i for one dont want to wait until jan/feb to find out these hidden details we should know immediately so as the full membership can respond to it at the a.g.m. if there is know hidden agenda surely the b.w.r.a. could makea satement which would put an end to this discussion. phil
Hi Phil, Doreen here (BWRA SEC ), I have posted the full facts on K9 as given to me by Asfordby Sports Club, I have not kept anything back from the members thats not how I work, I am on this committee to do my best for the membership and have always been honest and up front with you all.
There have been rumours about events that took place at the championships but I have not had any official complaints from Asfordby, and it has never been mentioned in any conversations that I have had with them over the past few weeks
so we must accept their reason for not being able to stage our events.
regards Doreen

In my opinion pre entry is not the answer as I have stated (my opinion) somewhere on K9 before the people who run the event(s) make up programmes (in advance and in good faith) only to have to change them (to avoid more races than required and adding to the time of race day) when dogs/bitches etc don't turn up (adding more time to race day) for whatever reason to avoid more race's than required. As for racing the championships in one day that would be hard as in my opinion as at that time of year (August) the light is fading early evening and with possabile re runs (and we can't count them out) it would be even harder if the championships were furter south than Asfordby I don't know why but in my experiance the dog day seems to last longer than the bitch day so if we were to run the championships in one day is the answer to move them further north for daylight reasons. In my opinion no (yes I would like the championships on my doorstep like most people would) but in my opinion it is best if we have the championships as central to all racers as possible that way we (all the racers) have a chance and I wish the B.W.R.A committee all the best finding a venue that gives all the racers where ever they are a chance to get those three letters (or more) before their dogs racing names.phil said:hi john ,this could be a short term solution but it would take a lot of the fun we are used to away, and i think maybe a step back but if we need to do that then so beit. philjohn m said:With the amount of dogs and bitches that have entered the championships in recent years both Dog and Bitch championships could be run off in a day, and bringing pre-entry back in again may help this.
Not just this year but last year as well (in my opinion) but the scratch dogs are just as big a part of racing as well the others.sherry said:quote john I don't know why but in my experiance the dog day seems to last longer than the bitch day this cud be this year becoz there were so many scratch dogs racing on the dog day there was 40 this year
