Before I start lets get the facts straight, I am posting as a BWRA member with my own opinions. I am not posting on behalf of Asfordby whippet club.
To start with the meeting held by the small family concern at the sports centre had nothing to do with Asfordby racing club, who had no part in the decision made and were not at the meeting.
Why are people so shocked at losing yet another venue for weekend events ??
Asfordby sports centre have always wellcomed us with open arms, as did Oldhall before that. What have thay had in return ?? .................
The downfall of our sport can be sumed up in one word ALCOHOL.
The children are expected to behave and respect the property at venues. The adults however do not.
The sports centre to my knowledge have NEVER complained or billed either body for damage etc. Thay have infact been far to polite for there own good. And without a witness what do you expect the BWRA to do about putting a stop to it.
The attitude of alot of racers at weekend events is now ( get the dog weighed in quick , Im losing good drinking time !!!!! ) thats the last you see of them till their dog races, then its straight back to the pub till closing time.
Some of the damage and bad behaviour I do know of ( by word of mouth ) fights and drunken brawls in the club house infront of the regulars who use the pub, fire extingushers being pulled off the wall causing damage , fire alarms being set off , rubbish being left on the feild where children play football.
I have never heard the sports centre complain, but how do racers expect to find good venues when thay behave like this ??
The racers alone are at fault for losing yet another track for weekend events in my opinion.
The children who use the centre keep it clean and respect peoples property, its a shame some adult whippet racers can,t follow their example.
