Just wondered if anyone on here has either of the following as I am needing to buy a new camera

Canon Ixus 105

Panasonic DMC ZX1

If so would really appreciate some feedback please :-

I phoned John Lewis and the sales advisor recommended both!!

My daughter and I both have a Canon Ixus 75 and we are really pleased with them. Obviously you don't get the same quality photos as the expensive Digital SLR Cameras, but I wanted a small camera that I could easily take out when walking the dogs etc and this one is great.

Good luck with whichever one you choose. :luck:

I've got the Ixus 85 which I also find handy to slip in my pocket for dog walks rather than take the SLR. I'm really pleased with it. Here's a few photos I've taken with it bearing in mind that they lose a bit of quality as they're uploaded via Photobucket. The camera produces nice sharp images and the colour is generally good so I'd recommend it. I'm sure the Panasonic would be a good choice too though!

Thanks for your advice also Sarah

I didn't realise you could get them in different colours (unless you couldn't when I bought mine!). My Ixus is just silver :(

Not sure about the Ixus 75 and 85 but the 105 comes in pastel green, blue and pink I think as well as silver

Sounds lovely - think I'd fancy a green one

im hanging my nose over a canon power SX210 is. any one know anything about those

The Cannons are excellent little cameras too....my Mams just bought Dad one for Christmas

and Ive been helping him as its his first digital camera...it came with its own small printer...and takes excellent pictures.

Im almost sure its that model Jax.

I have a Pannasonic Lumix DMC TZ7

It is a replacement for my DMC TZ5 which I dropped on my slate floor :( . I think the older model was a bit better but the TZ7 has an HD movie mode and a whole lot of extras.

I love this range. Really easy to use and nice and solidly built. Both have a Leica lens that is wider than standard. Lens quality is importiant.

Both camera have excellent reviews. I do miss having a viewfinder on the pannasonic. The LCD screen is huge but can be a pain in bright light. I suggest that you go into Jessops or similar and try handling both. See how they feel in your hand and how the controls feel.

I have a digital SLR too but when walking the dogs the little Pannasonic is so much more convenient.

I think Jessops have gone bust , I know the one in Nottingham has gone , so my OH tells me , but thats a goos idea , I wonder if comet have them to try out , Thank you

Jessops have gone bust? (w00t) Not that surprised really as they were very expensive and having to compete with online retailers.
