Took kids and dogs to New Forest today, got some great pics of horses and the dogs.Beautiful scenery.Got home and tried to download but camera kept saying there was a memory card error.Took camera to Currys and the guy there checked the card and found it to be completely corrupt. He said he had never seen it before on a card that is a month old. Got a new card but of course all my pics were gone. Could have screamed   ,really chuffed off. Pics would have been good, honestly! Anyone know what causes a memory card to corrupt? I have the camera in my bag and then in the wardrobe so it is not left around anything magnetic. If it does it again on the new card then I know its the camera.Any advice would be welcome

Typical of a member of Currys to know buggerall! :- "

You won't get any sense of those spotty thickos at currys. They only work there cos they think they may get a free Madras at the end of the shift.

I'd certainly get the card checked out first to make sure it hadn't been corrupted.

Then I would take it back to place of purchase /nearest branch.

If it proves the card was shite in the first place, they may give you a free memorycard in exchange - small profit eh - loss of the occasion.

Unless you (Obviously not) a pro, then no recompense whatsoever.Sorry!!

As a pro - you would have test shot your mem cards in the first place eh????????????

You mean you have'nt.

AMATEUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Thanks for that  all currys wanted to do was send it to repair before checking the memory card, which meant being without it  would be like my right arm was missing! No camera! It is working ok now with new card.Did have to chuckle though cos the bloke in currys had a massive badge on his shirt saying CAMERA EXPERT :- "

Always be careful when taking the disc in and out of the camera, dont leave them lying around either...I think you can buy little cleaning cloths for them too. Always carry them either in the camera or camera bag or the special case....any dampness or specs of dust can damage them too.

my memory card also has the same problem which is why i cant post any pics on here at the mo i took my to bennets and they said its because ive scratched it taking it out i find this hard to believe as im always so careful? :teehee:
