No more from me on this topic.

I`m interested to see how successful the mud-slinging campaign has been and how many people have been taken in by it.

I just hope that none of you in "gang" are the NEXT victim.

We run our dogs beacuse they enjoy it and we like them to have a happy, varied life.

One of mine just does solos because he`s a "bulldozer" but he`s happy.

My other races but we`re too busy at our Opens to run him and do the paddock simoultaneously.

Some folk might not like our dogs but we do.

On the whole we enjoy our racing but I must admit to being VERY anti when I`m on the bike and it`s cold, wet and the punters whinge. This year, so far, the weather has been fine and we have had a good time.

We are even paying our way as a club.

Ive not commented before, but all I can say is that this is a very sad and sorry situation for everyone. I just love racing my boys and having a bit of fun on a sunday, amongst friends, Im saddened to hear that the next champs have been cancelled.

Well said Darcia, what a sad state this has brought racing to.

You seem to be the only one slinging Gavin. Just read through your post again, and all you are doing is slinging mud ;)

it's time (IMO) for the WCRA to sit down with clubs and work out a way forward for pedigree racing, before its too late.

As I said earlier, it is time all this bickering stopped and people just got on with their lives and running their dogs. There is no solution to the problem, so it is time to move forward and stop going round and round over the same thing.

I think you all have to be careful, the WCRA might just say enough is enough and disband.

the way this has been delt with Anne i doubt it would be the end of the world!!!!

the facts are that people will not run with these dogs, so if it means we only club race and stick with the clubs that are standing by pedigree whippet racing, then so beit..

such a shame for the people that have put so much time into the WCRA.....if only DNA had been collected from the sire when asked (before he died) all this would have been resolved one way or the other by now!!

i really dont think us racers are to blame for all this

Lets hope the 2nd champs goes ahead on a re-scheduled date

just about to send my entry for the second champs?????????????????????????? Is there a problem ?????????????????????

IMO there is no way that we would lose pure bred pedigree whippet racing even if the much beleaguered and critised WCRA did disband. There simply are too many very keen racers who love the sport and will want to carry on. I'm sure that a democratic organisation will be formed in their place.

I'm just wondering what the point of dragging us all to Moreton in Marsh is? They say two reps from each club can go and vote - what are we voting on? The WCRA know our views - we have all dropped Superstars - so what do they want to drag us to Moreton to vote again for? Do they expect people to come down from the Northern clubs and Scotland to have their say? If they take as much notice of our votes this time, as they take at the talk-ins, its a complete waste of time. I've thought it over tonight, and I say the clubs should write to the WCRA to say - the racers will accept nothing less than a ban.

We get nothing from the Whippet Club. The WCRA say that if they take away the passports of certain dogs, that the Whippet Club will give them back on appeal!!!! To start with how do they know that? They could have taken the passports away, and still run the next Champs - they owe it to the people who ran in the 28lb group last time - are they to miss out on two occasions of having the opportunity to become Champs, or beat the weight group record?

The WCRA was formed to run 4 Championship meetings, and to run the passport system to keep the sport to pure pedigree whippets - they have failed on both counts now - what is the point? We need a new, democratic organisation, who will listen to the people who spend their hard earned money travelling to take part in a sport they love.

I say if the WCRA cancel the next Champs, we should get together the new democratic organisation everyone has been talking about and craving. An organisation where each whippet owner gets a say. If the WCRA had been democratic this would never have come to this.

Sod chasing about the country to go to meeting that we have absolutely no control over - its a sham. There is enough time to put together our own Championships. The clubs have paid good money to affiliate to a governing body who have made the most almighty cock up.

I was very disappointed to hear of the WCRA's decision to cancel the second championships. As a secretary of an affiliated club, I look forward to the explanation the WCRA will give as to why this decision has been made. I wonder if the third and fourth championships are likely to go ahead. If they do, then I think the fourth champs should be changed to a straight to accommodate the veterans and the dogs who only run straights.

The news of the second championships being cancelled was met with a mixture of disappointment and anger at my club today. The championships are the most prestigious events in the open calendar. They are the showpiece events in our sport. It has always been my understanding that the WCRA's role has been to stage the four championships each year, and to regulate and safeguard the integrity of pedigree whippet racing. I would hope that everyone on the WCRA also sees this as their role. If they don't, they should ask themselves why are they on the committee. All everyone wants is to have fair and honest racing, and to pit their pedigree whippet against other pedigree whippets to find out who has the best dog on the day. It can't be that hard, can it?

Oh dear, it's going from bad to worse. Do people want pedigree racing, with passports, only KC registered whippet allowed?

Or is all that going to go by the board?

New club maybe. THE PEDIGREE WHIPPET RACING SOCIETY? Just as I am getting back to running my dog after my op, things are going tits up.

As so many people are on the internet, why can't this be dealt with as a ballot on this forum or TWF?

Just chucking ideas around.
