Billy if the top "lurcher men dont go there" where do they go as ive chased them all round the country.  so  if  Big Phil & Lou  and Stuart & Becki ..Simon & Jill (storm) and Darren & Keith (ollie)  arent the top people in the lurcher scene  id love to know who are.
ive raced the length and breadth of the country and havent seen better.  me thinks many people from my country need to forget about 30 years ago and do what i do....

GO LOOKING FOR COMPETETION IN THE PRESENT

mayb next year ill bring a few new faces and maybe a few old ones with me on my conquests

See some of us have other responsibilities, like running a home, and reaing our kids.Seems that takes up quite a bit of money and time.Don't seem to be any change left over at the end of every week or so,to go sailng round the half of Britain. When i did go over to Chatsworth, there were the likes of Mr Fleatcher,All the Palmers, and the Evans's,+ all the Mathews, and loads ,n loads more of the elite in lurcher racing.Don't think you would even count against some of the old school. It took me months to save for Chatsworth each year, and it was the highlight of the racing season for me.Now i wouldn't even class it as decent venue, worth visiting.I guess Mr Fletcher could add a few more names to my list, that aren't around anymore.Don't know if Vicky Growcock even attends it now.The Cornish Champuionships is the one id be after now.

me thinks you need to stop wasting money on cameras and lenses and come to england with me next year. you might get a shock at how good some of the "modern times" dogs are. ill leave that with you uncle bill. just pick the venue and we can take the engerlanders on like i do every few weeks.

still a few to go this year mind you

I do still attend Billy and will be there this year but not to compete in the racing its not what it used to be :( I shall just go for the showing as I have one qualified for the final :) Vicki

What was the old racing distance? Cheers
It's been variable over the years Lee, from when the Mc Curry brothers ran the NLRC in the early days it was about 180 to 200 yards

Then when Dale Rutter and co took over it dropped down to 140 of my paces, so lets say 130 to 140 yards :(

On my last visit 4 years ago, I was shocked to see the distance was even less than when we was there on a regular basis :- "

Regarding the competition in the early days, let me tell you there was alot of flying machine  and not all of them smooth coated dogs, afew that come to mind is, Thaw  Gerry Lee  Stag  and Mike Palmers speed machine Sky  and Snake Turners dog Roxy  all of these were over 23".

Also there was some rough coated under 23" dogs that was flying machines, Axa  Miss T  and Colin Berrys 2 flyer's who's names escape me at the moment

Then some of the smooth unders like Vicky's Gemini and most of her other dogs  B A a scratch dog from Maltby wrc  who once kicked my arse (w00t)

Then there was the coffin dodgers dogs, but to many to mention :- "

Its my Birthday Sunday so a day off from the rescue and the dogs. Guess where ive opted to go sad cow that I am (w00t) Were taking five dogs with us and non of them are doing anything so should imagine they will be the ones screaming off the end of the lead spinning and demanding we let go :- " They do every other year

Already asked about going over there with you this year,if you remember back.Even said i would lay in the back with the dog's,if necessary,as i couldn't afford to take my own car over at the time, unless i got a few to travel with me.Got no comeback on that one at the time,so didn't mention it again. With what i have at the minute,i would just love the chance to go over there every few weeks, but as i said,i have other commitments at the moment, and im saving up for a new camera,ha ha.I like to have summit to show for my money.Maybe if a wee plan i have up my sleeve comes off, things will be on the up n up next year. Now for the reason i came on here at this very moment in time.Just had a wee phone call from someone who was just of the phone to you,and i apologize if you think im running you're dogs down,as im not.And i can't see where i said anything about Rose n Tori either.(not sure if this came up in you're conversation,so im just clearing this one up,as it was mentioned to me,that i was being very hard on both of you,or summit)Im sure Tori would have layed down a very good account of herself,if all had gone to plan.I seriously hope you win both the overs and the under's when you get there, but as i've said, the competition now,in my own opinion,is not what it was,as there is not even near the amount of heats,or dogs racing there.Mr Fletcher still has his old 60 year old hands in there yet i recon.Just look who bred last years winners.Anyway, nuff said. ...Billy...

Ahh,Vicki.Didn't even know you were on here girl. How r u keeping.I remember the year you're Gemini won. What a bitch. She threw some good pups too. That must have been one of the best litters ever bred at the time,as it contained Cornish Bob,Stag Party, and the jack dog who i bought from P J Evans. Then the repeat, threw it all over again,in Grahams Dream litter. You,re Gemini would be an aunt of my Tara bitch. As you say Vicki,Chatsworth is not what it used to be.Should be interesting this year though,if a certain few people turn up on the racing line.Don't think they still have it though,as they're like me now.Too old,ha ha ha.Go on.Prove me wrong Geoff lol. :luck: in the final Vicki, and let us know how you get on.

...Billy...
