I dont think i would consider not getting an animal chipped ... all mine are done. In worst case scenarios it proves ownership as well as helping to bring them home.
all of mine and most of dads are chipped , last time i had mine done i got the slightly more expensive version which gives the animals temp too so saves having the thermometer popped up the dogs/cats /horses bottom

Had Polly at the vet yesterday for routine annual check, vaccinations etc and he checked her chip, which was put in when she was 4 months old.  She is now over 5 and a half.  The chip had slipped right round and down a leg and was hard to find - apparently common in 'long dogs', according to the vet. I am concerned that if she is lost, a brief scan across her shoulders would come up negative.  Any suggestions whether I can massage it back (if I can feel it) or should I get her rechipped.

I know I should have asked at the time, but was a bit gobsmacked  (w00t)

I have had engraved on the back of my dogs tags 'microchipped' so that if they moved hopefully they would scan the whole dog

Polly wears a tag on her collar saying she is chipped and neutered, but I was concerned if the collar came off or was removed.

Will ring the vet, i think, and ask if she should be redone. When she was done (a bit early at 3 months, but she was such an escape artist and still is, to some extent! ) she didn't even flinch but now she HATES the vet because he cut her claws once -and she was in shock for about 5 hours afterwards! Since then, she has only had her claws clipped when under a GA for something else! :(

umm.. smirnoff has been chipped and I sent off documents,

but I was unaware that I should get some documents back ?

what should I be reseaving ?

and when ?
