Chorley cakes are flatter and tend to be made with short pastry- Eccles are thicker and with puff pastry and sugared

much nicer imo, but it must be BUTTER, margerine? bleugh!
 
they have a currant inner and pastry outer :p
 
I've never heard of them, but I like eccles cakes. :D
 
Chorley Cakes are shortcrust pastry with raisins in which are rolled to a thinnish round shape. The difference between eccles cakes and chorley cakes is the pastry in an eccles cake is puff pastry and usually you add some mixed spice.
